I wanted to post about my journey and give praise to deva for teaching me HOW to do my hair. I must admit that deva products have not become WHAT I use on my hair, but avoiding silicones and sulfates has literally changed my life and self esteem.
It took me months of trial and error before I experimented with deva technique. But I finally learned to style in the shower: soak with water, wide tooth comb through RO and let soak while bathing, apply LI mixed with oil, upside down finger style, then squeeze out access water, air dry or 5 minutes with a blow dryer if its winter...then whoo hoo! Beautiful juicy curls!!!!
With such reactive skin, finding my hg's came muuuuch later. I had to pinpoint products that didn't make me itch, burn or break out. That was hard
it meant that I not only needed to be careful with many all natural lines (to avoid nut oils, triglycerides and heavy essential oils), but I had to avoid many reactive chemicals as well,(ie mineral oil).
In finding the right moisture/protein balance...my fine hair is picky with proteins but gets over conditioned easily, good hair days became consistent.
But none of this would have been possible without the right technique to keep some stability in my routine amongst the chaos of my resulting PJ-ism
So I want to thank all the ladies and gents of NC.com and deva for giving me the tools, strength and support to find a way to make my curls shine and pop in all their 3B glory!!! I love you all.
Here's to many more curly days and pineapple nights! Cheers!!
