FYI: Sulfate/Silicone-"Free" HE Products

I saw someone mention on here awhile ago that Herbal Essences was re-releasing their old scents and packaging sans silicone and sulfates, and I actually saw some of them at my Target. The conditioner had a special "0% sulfates" tag on it and the shampoo had a "0% silicone" tag. I found that odd, considering you wouldn't be worrying about a conditioner having sulfates, so I checked the ingredients and saw just from a quick glance the conditioner had a -xane toward the top and the shampoo had SLS. I didn't keep reading to see how many more were in there. Careful, curlies - these Herbal Essences reformulations aren't good for CGers.

So shady using the silicone/sulfate-free buzz words and selling sulfate shampoos with no silicone and silicone conditioners with no sulfates. SMH, Herbal Essences. SMH.

Thanks for sharing. Lol, the shampoo sounds like a conditioner and the conditioner sounds like a shampoo!!

Right there with you Houseofcurls! The old HE line smelled amazing, and I was looking forward to trying it. So disappointing to see the actual ingredients lists. Cyclopentasiloxane and Dimethicone in the conditioner? No thank you. And sulfates in the shampoo? Just no.

A while ago i read that companies sometimes use SLS in conditioners as preservative (in fact if present, it is among the last positions of the INCI, so in small quantities).
Anyway i'd never buy such a condish :cwm10::thumbdown:

Often they put the 'No SLES' label on the shampoo bottles, but if you read the INCI name you can find another kind of sulfate (i.e. ammonium or coceth laureth sulfate).

Here in Italy it's difficult to find a 'No Sulfate' shampoo in the supermarkets, unless you check the newborn stuff shelf or the biological one :cwm10:
