... but first impressions, nope, dont like it much so far. Im trying out the travel pack they have and these are my thoughts so far...

The no-poo cowash, smelled weird, not bad just weird. My hair is already dry and I still smell it.
The Condish was ok.
The "angel" gel, ok, like that it doesnt feel too heavy when I put it on.
The moisture lock spray, well, it feels like one of those products that was just thrown into the mix at the end of the product line up just to even out the numbers. I put it on after the gel but I just didnt like it. I've got lots of frizz today.

I used the products as suggested and it is now noon and I feel like my hair is just full of product. Gonna try it tonight again but gonna tweek some of the directions.

Any scary Devacurl stories out there?

Sporadic shampoo (usually 1 to 2 times a week): Kinky Curly Come Clean

Leave in: CHS Curl Keeper, or Coconut oil
Style: LA Looks Gel (the blue one), GF curl shaping spray gel
I had mixed feelings about the Deva products. They're nice but I can get similar or better results from drugstore/less expensive products.

No Poo is great and I love using it when my hair is feeling dirty (after a long run or exercising). I don't mind the smell but it does linger. I think you can get the same results from a drugstore conditioner though.

The Deva conditioner I found to be very weather specific. I started using it in the summer and didn't have any strong feelings about it but I picked it up again after Christmas when my hair was suffering from "winter hair" syndrome and it really boosted my curls. Again, it's not an HG product for me and I can get the same curls with cheaper conditioner.

I agree with you about the styling products- I find they don't have enough hold while leaving me with the "too much product" feeling.

I say if they don't work for you they don't work for you. I really wanted to love their defining gel but it dries my hair out everytime I use it. At first I was confused, then I learned I was "coarse" and therefore sensitive to at least some proteins. And the gel is chock full of proteins!

Poos: SM Moisture Retention + Yucca Baobab, TJ's Tea Tree Tingle

I think they are fine, but anything that costs that much should be made of gold, in my opinion.

Deva products make my hair feel "gummy." I, too, wanted to like them but after several attempts I finally gave up. Glad I only purchased the travel sizes. I'm also grateful that my hair responds well to more affordable products.

3B, fine, normal to low porosity
Modified CG since June 2010
HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.
I use the Deva line almost exclusively; shampoo conditioner and gel, then diffuse upside down. I have 3a curls and it makes them look amazing. It's interesting how different each head of curls is.. To each his own!

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I still can't get over the lingering smell. I've decided that ill try one of the Devacurl products at a time with what I know already works. It's all about experimenting!

Deva products did not help my hair at all. They all left my hair dried out and feeling coated in product. I tried several thinking maybe it was just a certain one my hair didn't like but they all left my hair feeling icky. Ur not alone in this
Medium texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity
Also, I hated the smell it left on my hair too

I agree with you. I first tried the sample kit and really liked the results but HATED the smell. I next bought full size bottles of the DevaCARE line. It is for color treated hair and has more of an orange scent. (I heard it described as baby aspirin!) But I didn't like the way it worked. Had kind of a waxy quality to it. I started this CG business about 9 months ago and have yet to hit on a good combination of any products that consistently work for me. There are the rare days when my hair really looks sharp and I think it is all worth it. But too often I find I look unkempt. But along the way I have tried many shampoos and conditioners and none were a HG. I did just get my hair cut this weekend and the stylist used Deva curl products. I still hate the smell but my hair really felt nice and curled well. I had that same "wow - what a difference" feeling that I did when I first tried the line. And since I am getting pretty fed up with the time and energy and money being spent on my hair (it is not world peace or a cure for cancer!)- I bought it again as one last try before throwing in the (microfiber) towel and returning to the round brush and blow dryer. I will soon know it the results are worth the smell and cost. Hope you find what works for you!

Instead, techniques is what has helped me more in the long run. But I'm still glad I've learned so much here
