What's everyone's fAvorite protein treatments?
I've been wanting to buy a protein treatment but don't know where to start. I'm new to the forum and site so I haven't heard the news on popular ones. I'd prefer something cheaper too! My hair is super porous, dry/damaged, and barely curls. I have thick 3b hair with a coarse texture. Just this week ice started the CG method so I'd like to keep it silicone free as well please any suggestions for this newbie?

Mayonnaise treatment. I don't need a lot of protein as I have low porosity and thick strands, but when moisture doesn't seem to do the job, I put mayo in my hair for half an hour before I wash. The result? Shiny (not SUPER shiny) hair and less frizz.

Question: Do you put mayo on clean hair before you wash or just on top of your already day old hair that has product in it? Also how much do you put in for your particular length?
(I really want to try a PT but I'm a little wary of overdoing it.)

CJ Repair Me. I know other popular ones are the Nexxus Emergencee and Joico K-Pak.

I just put it on day old hair. Sometimes I detangle with olive oil first before applying the mayo. I use about 4 tablespoons for my thick dense head of waist length hair. Some people just saturate it completely until its goopy, but I use just enough to coat the length (not the roots). I wash it out with conditioner after letting it sit under a shower cap for half an hour.
If you don't want to overdo it, don't leave it in longer than 30 minutes.

Reason: I forgot to mention that I've heard different brands of mayo yield different results. I use Best Foods Real Mayo.

I love Colorful Neutral Protein Filler (Sally's) at a 1:1 ratio with distilled water. It really gives my hair the "teeth" it needs to support my waves. I use it in a spray bottle right after I wash my hair OUT of the shower. I spray it in, then add my LI and style as usual.

Do y'all use just regular gelatin from the cooking aisle or from somewhere else? Is there a certain way you mix and do it? Same goes with the mayo. It's not from the cooking aisle is it??

I may try this tomorrow. I'll stop by the supermarket and get some mayonnaise then. My hair's thick too and just over the backstrap (longest layers) so maybe two tbsp for me! Thanks for your help.

I went CG in January of this year, and lately may hair was just limp, and felt almost like it was over-producted no matter what I did. Was ok when it was wet, had curls but once it went completely dry it was horrible - really limp and lifeless. So last night I did the Gelatin PT - IAgirls recipe, OMG what a difference!!!!
