Default I have been VERY bad...

Hi ladies,

I have a confession. I have been VERY bad...to my hair. I got so tired of my complete lack of volume that I did something drastic. I chopped all of my hair off (just below shoulders) and went for a chin-length crop. And I straightened everyday for months. I've gotten to a length where I can wear it curly again, but even with using a heat-protectant, I have damage. Does anyone have any recommendations for what I should do from here? I miss my curls!! I also don't know what to do about volume, which was my original problem. I clipped roots, diffused upside-down, but an hour later, it was flat and I was back to looking like I was balding (I have thin and fine hair). So I'm starting over and need help!!

Thanks ladies!

I understand. Sometimes you get desperate and do something major, not always with the best results.

Have you tried protein and deep treatments? I recommend Curl Junkie's Repairme which is protein followed by Curl Junkie Curl Rehab. Another really great deep conditioner is Curlisto Deep Therapy Masque but it costs a fortune and I think it has a cone, in case you are concerned about that.

I have found those 3 the best and I don't need to leave them in for more than 5 minutes (I have no patience).

My very good stylist (Dickey in Manhattan - owner of Hair Rules) suggests using Neem Oil (or something similar) at night and then washing it out the next day. I had excellent results with that.

I'm sure other curlies will chime in with great suggestions! Take heart - it will be OK after some TLC. Please post back with your results.

Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Conditioners: Curl Junkie Beauticurls Strengthening Conditioner,
Deep condish: Curl Junkie Curl Rehab
Stylers: Experimenting with cones & sulfates while the dews are high. Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.

CJ Curl Rehab is amazing. I just finished my jar (it lasted a long, long time) and need to reorder soon. Lots of DTs and protein treatments. Just be kind to your hair, it will come back.

Thanks ladies. I ordered some of the CJ Repair Me! Reconstructive treatment before this thread. If I don't like that one, I will try the Rehab.

Repair Me! Is a protein treatment, but you might find that you need to follow it with a moisturizing condish. I love Repair Me and use it about once a week followed by something more moisturizing.

The product junkie is starting to get excited!! Thanks for the tip. I didn't even think about following it up with another treatment.

I agree with everybody else: just baby the heck out of it. Also, if the PJ is making a comeback that's a good thing. You can get excited about your curly hair again.
