Default DC 2x per week too much????

Hello Fellow Curlies,

I was wondering if deep conditioning 2x a week too much? I heard of over moisturizing and definitely don't want that. So I was wondering if alternating my DC between moisture and protein would work.

Has anyone tried this? What products do you use?

Thank you again :-)

I think it depends on your properties and whether or not your hair is just that thirsty. I don't do a full out deep treatment too often because I'm lazy (and new at this) but I've been doing mini deep treatments where I sleep with moisturizing leave in (like SM's restorative conditioner) and then rinse out and style come morning. I think my curls look a little less perky this week though so I'm trying out a PT and "listening" to my hair.

For DC, I like to mix oils and honey. 1 tbsp EVCO to 1 tbsp EVOO to 1 tbsp GSO to 1 tbsp honey and 1 tbsp or two of a moisturizing conditioner to thicken it. I don't see the point in buying a deep treatment when you can whip one up at home really easily but I maybe I'm wrong.
