Do you alternate your conditioners?

Like Tree2Likes

Use different ones or the same one all the time, and why?
I dig my main squeeze (TJ's Tea Tree Tingle) most of the time because it always works. But I think alternating conditioners can be good for keeping our hair on its toes. I got some of SM's Yucca Baobab for a shot of protein once a week. . . This is a really interesting topic. I'd like to know how often people rotate conditioners too.

you use Suave Coconut as a rinse out and not as a co-wash, kaj? I thought most curlies here use it as a co-wash - I dont co-wash.
I mix 'em up all the time.

I have been using the same co wash and rinse out since I started, I guess it just works fro me right now and I am a bit too lazy trying to decide what to use early in the morning :-)
Now my daughter (13) is a whole different story, right now she is rotating at least 6 different conditioners. When I ask her why ( the shower looks like the shampoo isle at target lol ) , she says she can tell which conditioner her hair needs when its wet. Beats me, her hair looks great though whatever she's using.

I use Tresemme Naturals nearly all the time but I do use Aubrey's GPB once a week or so for the protein hit and I have some Giovanni stuff that I use if I straighten. Now and then I'll get the urge to try something new but not so much these days.

I use pretty much the same conditioners year round - Tresemme to detangle/cowash, because its cheap and I use a lot of it; CJAO for my RO in winter, CJ Daily Smoothing for summer; CJ Curl Rehab for DTs, Repair Me for the (very occasional) shot of protein. These conditioners are consistently reliable for me, so I don't switch. Where I do find myself experimenting a lot is stylers (particularly for winter, as Spiral Solutions CEJ and FHG are extremely reliable for me in summer, but if I could find a good winter combo that gave me consistent results, I'd stop looking). I don't like to have a jillion opened and partially used bottles of stuff lying around.

I have been rotating conditioners depending on if I need protein or not (and how much I need). I use Aubrey Organics GPB conditioner as a rinse-out when I need protein, but I found I can only use it three days in a row before my hair goes a little crazy. I don't get the straw-like sensation from protein overload, it's just that I have some strands that go into tight corkscrews with a lot of protein. The rest of my hair is wavy, so I just end up with a bunch of random hairs sticking out of the top of my head in tight kork screws and it ends up looking like a ton of frizz. I don't know why some strands are such over achievers.

So yeah, I rotate a protein heavy conditioner (Aubrey Organics GPB or sometimes Nature's Gate Tea Tree calming conditioner) with a protein-free conditioner. Right now I'm loving Yes To Carrots Pampering conditioner for that.

I am still experimenting though. I had a $100 WalMart gift card as part of a promotion, and I kind of used it to buy just about every CG conditioner WalMart sells online... Perhaps someday I'll find a single conditioner that has the right balance for everyday usage!

All the time. I have several different conditioners that I use. I've actually narrowed down my favorites but still experiment occasionally. For my rinse out conditioners and DT conditioners I love, Tresemme naturals (moisturizing), Darcy's botanicals pumpkin seed conditioner, GVP conditioning balm, CJ curl rehab, Kenra moisturizing, suave and Vo5.
As far as a leave-in, I alternate between using the above mentioned or CK satin roots, MD red clover, Oyin HH/HD (don't know if I will reorder), and SM hair milk. It just depends on how my hair feels that day, what the weather is doing, and what scent I prefer.
I'm also testing out Giovanni direct leave in and KC knot today. I'm thinking of ordering a liter of the Giovanni smooth as silk conditioner, I used to love it when I first went CG.

As to why? My hair sometimes needs more or less conditioning and the various conditioners meet the different moods of my hair. I like to have conditioners from light to heavy for that reason. I also like having at least 2 conditioners that I can pick up locally just in case I'm ever in a pinch. I've tested a ton of conditioners and have found that I love these, they never let me down. One thing that I look for, other than performance, is the option to purchase bottles in larger amounts. Also, a good conditioner that is multi-purpose...as a RO, LI, DT, and for co-washing.

Good response. I love Giovanni Smooth as Silk also but I wash and condition daily and that conditioner seems to not work great for me for everyday.
Yes, I rotate conditioners. 1) I'm anxious about the possibility that TN NM will stop working for me & 2) I'm always looking for that perfect product (for me, that would be the one with TN's price and results but with a Curl Rehab coconut-gardenia scent). I'm really hoping to narrow the field down, as I hate wasting money and space on extra stuff.

The SAS was wonderful in every respect, but it was just too much protein for my hair I haven't given up on Giovanni though - I've just started using the Avocado and Olive Oil conditioner, which I'm hoping will knock off TN for the top spot in my shower. So far so good.
