I was thinking about using panty hoses, yes. I've got so many lying around for no reason that I might as well use them. A lot of them look very shabby and aren't nice enough to wear any more but I kept them, just in case.

I'm going to try the panty hose next time I do it. I've never used tongs, either. A slotted spoon should work, or at worst, a regular spoon and lean it to the side of the pot to squeeze out.

Glad to hear I can probably manage by just using a spoon :-)

What is a slotted spoon?

They have open "slots" or holes to drain liquids. Don't know if this will work

Oh I happen to have one of those! Never knew what to call it (not even in Dutch). How would you use a slotted spoon for FSG?

I'm assuming that you were going to use the tongs to remove the stockings filled with flax seeds from the gel. A slotted spoon would do that. If you're just putting the seeds in the water, you don't need an implement.

Kathy,

I just used a regular spoon and it worked well for me!

Well I watched this YouTube video and the tongs is used to squeeze gel out of the flaxseeds in the panty hose. That's why I'm wondering how to use the slotted spoon (or a regular spoon). Any advice is welcome!

I just made my first batch and it's cooling down. It seemed rather runny so I hope it thickens as it gets cooler.

Useful advice for the rest: make sure your bag with flaxseeds does not tip over. I just bought it and I have nothing left as it was strewn over the floor. Cleaning that up took me longer than making the actual FSG.

If you just use some washing detergents, of course! Though I only use ingredients that you can eat as well (flaxseeds and honey) but I'm thinking you should be okay after heaving them cleaned.

What about stprage containers w the finished flaxseed gel/additives (lavendar, jojoba, exc.)? I thought i saw a thread saying not to reuse the container u stored flaxseed gel in, and to buy new containers for new batches each time? Why is that? Is that true?
