What comb or brush is best for fine hair?
So I recently saw a youtube video by Veronica Meza where she shows how she styles her hair and I saw that she used a root brush when she got out the shower. Here's the video: Curly Hair Tutorial with Curly Hair Solutions - Veronica Meza - YouTube
Anyway, since I have fine hair like she does (and also a lot of it) I'm wondering if I should try the same brush. I use wide tooth combs now but I worry that they make my hair clump too much (and don't help for volume), which I can't afford with fine hair I like how her curls form more individually. Well, I like everything about her hair lol but I digress....
What would you recommend for fine hair? I want to see if I can get better results using something other than a wide tooth comb when I come out of the shower. My hair doesn't really getting knotty either so I don't need something heavy duty for detangling. I'm trying different styling techniques rather than products in hopes that it will help me out without having to spend as much money lol. I also want to try the roller jaw clamps she used in the video but just the brush and clamps from frizzoff.com are like $32 with shipping

A lot of people seem to swear by Denman-type brushes, but some folks claim that those cause more clumping, not less. On the upside, they're pretty cheap, so you could try one and not lose out on too much $$ if it doesn't work for you. Here's link to a pic of some options: DENMAN Classic Styling Brush | Folica.com
They also have a volumizing brush: http://www.folica.com/tools/hair-bru...lumizing-brush

dont you just HATE that GIRL!!!!
I hate her in the most envious sort of way...because I want to scalp her, and steal her hair...ok, thats gross. What I mean is...I LOVE her hair and I cant stand that my hair doesnt look like it! LOL!
I have a couple of finer tooth combs that I use on my kids and I use those when my hair has conditioner in it. I want to try a denman.

Yeah, that brush looks interesting. I would say, if you were going to buy just one thing from the frizzoff site, that brush would be your best option. Don't buy the clamps; you can get cheap octopus clips from any drugstore that would do the same thing. I use octopus clips on my roots every time I wash and they work great for adding root volume. I think the clips I bought were like $4 for 8 at CVS.

I already bought the clamps. I've tried other jaw clips and they don't work. They just straighten out my roots and hair on top of my head

Lol!! That is EXACTLY how I felt the first time I watched one of her videos - haha!
I have a comb/brush that looks a lot like the one she uses in that video - it's a teasing brush that looks like this:

I don't know if the bristles in the brush I have are made of the same material as the CHS brush (mine has natural boar bristles). I've never used it for detangling before, so I may have to try this. As far as the more separate curls vs. clumping, I think this is created by the way she rakes the product into her hair, and then twirls small sections. You could probably detangle with any kind of brush/comb (wide tooth comb, denman brush, etc.) and get similar results if you apply the product the same way. The denman brush is great at creating clumps, but I think if you separate your hair into sections and rake the product through afterwards, you're going to break up any clumps that may have formed. But it would be interesting to see if using that specific type of brush created more lift at the roots. I've never tried using those roller jaw clips, but I suspect those (combined with the way she diffuses her hair upside down) are responsible for the majority of the volume she gets.
I wish she would give us more info on her hair properties and what else she does to her hair before styling (does she use a leave in, or just CK on clean, damp hair?). Ahhh, the curly envy continues...

Yep, Sally's is where I got mine. Is the CHS one you found for $9 at the frizzoff.com website, or did you find it somewhere else? Because that's a pretty decent price, especially if there's no shipping. Maybe I'll need to try those roller jaw clips too...

I found it on ebay. However, I found a coupon code for frizzoff that gives u free shipping. That's why I bought the clamps... cuz I only paid for the clamps themselves and got free shipping here to the states The code is parent13

Does anyone use brushes on wet hair? I feel like it would distribute products better and give me less clumping (which I want lol) for example:

My fine hair snaps too easily to brush at all. Ever since I stopped attempting it, I've been losing a lot less hair and seeing a lot less breakage!

I tried brushing with a regular brush the other day and it was torture. I can't believe I did it for years. That's why I though the one with less bristles, spread out widely (like the one in my pic above) would be better. I'll see tomorrow when I try it

I just did a DT so I was able to try that little orange brush. I liked it! I lost like 5 hairs using it I also like the way it brushes more than a wide tooth comb. I feel like I'm actually getting all my hair more evenly instead of just clumps... if that makes sense Cleaning it is a little harder but with only losing a few hairs I don't mind I think it'll help distribute products better too. I only use CK right now and since it's water based I don't see my brush getting dirty over time. Anyway, that's a lot to say about a brush but yea... so far I like it much more than I thought I would
