Default Taming wet hair halo frizz??

Frizz has always been my #1 hair bane, but after thinking about it, I've realized: My frizz starts up almost immediately after my shower! I always let my hair air-dry, but there's always a lot of frizz that develops while my hair is still wet/damp, even if I've spent the time after my shower just, say, sitting and reading (and not moving my hair about).

I don't touch my hair when wet, and none of my products contain polyquats (which, I've heard, are one cause of wet hair halo frizz).

Does anyone have any idea what causes this, or what the solution may be?

You say the frizz starts to happen almost as soon as you step out of the shower. Is it there at all times, as soon as your hair is wet? Or does it start to happen at a certain time in your routine? Maybe you can pin down a product or a technique that is triggering it.

If it's not polyquats, I'd suspect some other ingredient causing build up. I stay away from most chemicals unless they are vegetable derived. The LA Sports Gel is loaded with them.

I have fine/thin/low porosity hair. I wouldn't be able to use a lot of the products you use--the shea m products are just too heavy (and I use really rich products, if you get the difference); the As I Am Cleanser has castor oil, as does the Ouidad,

Try lowpooing and using more natural products. See if that takes care of the frizz when wet.

Interesting... I get wet frizz as soon as I apply LA Sports gel sometimes. I also have been having issues cleansing my hair successfully recently, and the only styling products I use are FSG and LALSG. Maybe the latter is the culprit. Kathymack, you're so full of information!

The only polyquat is in my gel, so I don't think that's an issue. But I did try a different condish last night, V05 strawberries and cream milk condish. It's got soy milk in it, which adds protein. I've also added lemon to my co wash about 4 days ago. But I did see significant improvement with the protein condish. I'm off to find a protein treatment!

While protein is good, especially if your hair is fine and/or porous--one polyquat is all it takes! Especially if you use it all the time and don't clarify! When I say that I have issues with 4, 7 and 10--it was one of them in a product. A lot of lowpoos seem to have 7, the gels have 4 and/or 10 and other styling products have 10.

I do a sulfate wash twice a week. Does this get rid of it?

Did you check the dewpoints and (anti) humectants? I, for example, can not use glycerin in my products when de dews are low. My hair gets really frizzy when I do use them.

I will put these on my check list. Thank you for the tip.

Can be lack of moisture too. I get frizz with wet hair but once I apply my leave in conditioner it goes away. I use Shescentit coco creme leave in.

I don't think it's a lack of moisture; I wash my hair and apply conditioner at night, then rinse out the conditioner in the morning and apply another, lighter conditioner. I do this so that my conditioner can sink in overnight (at least, I hope it does!!).

Might a protein treatment help?

I'm finding that I'm getting this halo frizz even when I use purely SM products. The only times when I don't get halo frizz (or only get a little) is when I use KCCC + KCKT, which I love, but I would ideally like to be able to use my other products as well =/

Frizzy hair when wet is caused by buildup. Did you ever do a clarifying silicone free, sulfate poo? Or might you have used (or had used on you) a product with silicone after you went CG?

I'm not clear what Ouidad product you're using to co-wash, but most of her products have silicones.

Experiment and see what results you get. Try a more moisturizing conditioner, less shampoo.
For me, frizz even wet halo frizz is caused by lack of moisture despite my use of conditioner.
Protein plays a big part in keeping moisture in your hair if your properties require it.
Are you using any stylers or are you wanting to avoid them?
