Is it possible to dry your hair out with a non-sulfate shampoo?

I have this feeling the answer will be of course!

I started using jessicurl cleansing cream about 2 weeks ago. I loved the results until my last wash. Instead of defined curls it's more poofy and dry looking. I've been conditioning with GVP conditioning balm. I'm not sure if my hair is dried out or over moisturized. How can I figure this out
Thank you!
It is possible to dry your hair out with any type of surfactant--I find CJ Daily Fix drying if I use it more then ever few weeks. I do think you're over conditioned (although I didn't find the GVP Conditioning Balm very moisturizing.) Over conditioned hair is poofy and soft. Over proteined hair is poofy and hard.

I tend to agree. I think I'd rather be dried out! Does this mean I need to give in to a sulfate shampoo to start over? Maybe I just need to use one every once in a while. I have a less moisturizing conditioner called tressemme smoothing conditioner. So dissapointing...I was having perfect hair!
There are a few things that come to play here. Many of us rotate products. My hair always satiated on products, even in my shampoo/conditioner only days. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more then once in five days.

The best way to choose ingredients/products is by hair properties. Here's a link to help you with yours Live Curly Live Free - Home Once you know your properties, you can look for folks with hair like yours and see what they use (in signatures.) It's the best place to start.

My hair loves protein, so that's the way that I would counteract overconditioning. You could shampoo or use a less moisturizing conditioner. IMHO, I don't think that's what would be best for your hair.
