Why does Indian hair grow so quickly?

Okay, people. I have relatively fast growing hair. When I cut my hair into a pixie cut by the end of two years, not even two years, less, it was down to my breasts. However, my very lovely Indian friend got a haircut a little over the collarbone last fall. The last time I saw her at New Years it was just at the tops of her breasts. I saw her yesterday and now it's plumb spilling over them. It boggles my mind. Her nails grow that way too. Also they're ridiculously thick. She eats well but I'm even healthier, I'd wager. She's just a lucky duck, I'll tell ya. Her and her mother. And her cousins. And her nieces. . . You get the picture.

I couldn't stop smiling. But its not always true, I wish my hair grew that fast. I have more of a normal growth. Like you said she is lucky!!

Also most of the Indian people shave their kids head by the age of 1, produces new healthy growth from then on may be. Just my theory!

Yeah, good genes there I suppose. She has three year old nieces with hair past their butt so it definitely runs in the family. When I commented how I wished my hair would get that long that quickly she just said casually, "Grow it out." So I said, "I am, it's still not going to grow as fast as that." I think my hair will reach the length I cut off by this summer hopefully.

Funny you should mention that fact about the hair shaving. My uncle and aunt both had their hair (fuzz?) shaved when they were newborns because it was thought in their family to make the hair straight. Mom's hair, however, was left untouched. My grandmother didn't want to shave her hair for fear of it changing color since it was auburn, not brown. My mom says because of that her hair is wavy and therefore "cursed". Although she's coming around now that I've all but forced her to go CG by filling her bathroom with new products.

My aunt, in India has stick straight Knee length hair - Yes I said "Knee length hair". Also Thick - Like a thick long Python! Thats what I call her hair.To add to it, she is only 4'7" - that short and lean. I make fun of her that her hair is taking up all nutrition from her body. She doesn't eat that healthy either - so its in the Genes.

"Wavy and therefore Cursed!!"
Totally cracked me!! Glad your mom is on the CG band wagon. I am sure she will embrace her waves!!
