Default Planning a chop off

Hey Curlies

I am planning to chop off my hip length hair as its too much work and it looks more like a drag these days.Long hair is definitely lot of work and products even though long hair is beautiful. I am planning a self cut, as it usually works out good for me. Have not decided if I am going real short or an in between length, However Wish me luck!!

Its going to be emotional!

I'd say in between in case u don't like it then u can decide to go short. If u start out short and don't like it ur stuck. Good luck

While I love long hair, I tend not to like super long hair. There's something sort of '70s about it and it can be a drag. I think yours looks gorgeous though. Thick, healthy and not stringy at all. Super long hair has the tendency to look stringy and straggly towards the ends. I'm sure you've seen what I'm talking about. So yeah, in this instance, I'd say go for in between because your hair is just plain gorgeous. If that doesn't do it for you you could always go shorter. I love short hair too. It's just it can be a pain to grow out if you decide to change your mind.

I too am thinking about the big chop though I'd go for half way between nape and bra strap length when dry. That is me though, I am so chicken! Seriously long hair is a lot of work but it has advantages too if you like up dos. Best of luck on it, I really hope you like it.

ZigaZaga: I am nervous to even touch the sheers!!! although I guess one thing I want to do is take a good picture of my hip length hair, coz last time I had this much was in elementary school.

Shoot, if my hair looked like yours, I would not touch it, I would just wear it up occasionally. Dont cut it too much!

Myrna, after reading your comments I gave it a second thought and could not makeup my mind for the cut, God your words/complements have so much power

ok I am posting a picture, not for the sake of getting compliments, but because so many of you all asked for it Here goes my near hip length hair(I think). I never straightened my hair in over 2 yrs, so I have no Idea how it will be straight, although I am a 2c in the lower most layer, so stretching is not going to add a lot of length

How gorgeous! I would not chop off those curls if I were you, maybe just trim it to a U shape rather than the V. I get a W shape that is horrid so I do have to trim sometimes! Very beautiful.

BlackAngelPlayah, ain't nothing wrong with a little hair perviness.

CurlyIndianGirl, it's so gorgeous. Doesn't look stringy at all even though it's cut into a point. That looks deliberate. I agree with Zigazaga. You can reshape it if you like, but if you really love it or are having second thoughts you absolutely mustn't do a big or even a half-chop. Take it snip by snip.

(Incidentally Zigazaga, did you lift your name from that Spice Girls song or are you just a football fan? Just curious.)

Noooo don't cut it it's too beautiful for the scissor but if u insist then waste length would look great , cuz who knows u might actually miss ur long locks n regret it.

Its beautiful but I can see how it could weigh you down. I'd say go for past your shoulders. Like shoulder blade length.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

I picked the name because my hair does a lot of zigazaging rather than coiling! "Noodles" also came to mind but it isn't terribly appealing as a name!

If you decide to do a big chop, you could donate it to locks of love so someone else will enjoy it! Good luck with your decision!

So, I did it after all. I did cut couple inches though, not a lot. Before it was past waist length, now it touches BSL. And what a difference in root curl.

I also went from a V to a blunt U and added some layers

I love my new cut. Thanks for the support Curlies

Edit: Here is the after
