I also do a combo of meza @ pixie diffusing. I diffuse upside down for a few mins in each section until the curl starts to set & then I flip over & side to side. I pixie the whole way tho, I can't move it around too much.

oh my goodness Shelly u r too pretty for words.

i wathed this video and while experimenting with cross clipping i realized one clip really helps uphold the other.

MyDevaCurl - Curly Lifestyle - Videos

So i guess i did classic clipping with a cross twist. . . Picture a "t". One clip parallel pushing up to the root, the other cinching it in the middle perpendicular.

Oh also if you slightly bend the metal clip in the middle I've found it helps it hold up better.

I styled my hair today for the first time in what seems like ages, diffusing with my combo method like I always do after applying products into soaking wet hair. Lately I've been just putting it in a clip while damp and forgetting about it because I'm trying to sweet-talk it into growing out faster. Anyways, I think I'll try her whole routine top to bottom sometime and see what happens. I just didn't like it today, and I realized it's because it does look kinda plastered to my head. And frizzy - I tried KCCC again today and remembered why I don't like it. Plus, my hair has a natural tendency to clump together in big fat clumps and I don't have enough density for that to look good. I desperately need a trim/reshaping but I've been putting it off - I think if I could get smaller clumps and more volume I'd be much happier with it during this awkward stage. So... next time I style it I'll try damp hair and a thin gel like Ouidad and see what happens. It goes so far against everything I've trained myself to do the past 18 months but hey, why not.

Thanks for the link. I just do classic clipping, but adding in cross clipping, like you suggested, would probably be the best technique. Oh and thank you for the compliment. I HATE taking pics of me, but if it helps for the sake of the hair, I guess I'll do it...lol

I think I did it!!!
My first attempts came out okay. The second time I tried the Pantene curly spray gel, it looked great that night but just like with all the jellies I've tried my hair fell quickly the next morning and felt super producty. I decided I wanted to try something for definition with no hold. Tried the U R Curly Loose curl enhancer first, that was a disaster but now I know for sure glycerin makes my hair go poof. (We really need an emoticon with poof-head)

Then I stumbled across Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Styling Gel at Marshalls for $6. No glycerin, lots of botanicals, protein and only xanthan gum for hold. I used a lot, 5 pumps for my BSL hair, it had a good cast for pixie diffusing but didn't feel heavy or sticky/crunchy at any point. Long story short I got great clumps that have held up for 24 hours and my hair feels soft and springy. My previous attempts (mostly air drying) all fell by lunchtime the next day and made my hair feel gross. I think a lot of the reason some of those failed is because my hair felt so dry, sticky, rough that I kept trying to smooth and 'fix' it and pulled out the wave.

I didn't take pics last night because I've been disappointed so many times but I already went to several of the nearby Marshalls and TJ Maxx and found three more bottles! I'll try for a repeat and post pics then. Hoping for less frizz (it was minimal but still) since I'm gonna cut out the PT I was using as a leave-in and just realized has glycerin. Hehe, I'm so excited to have wavy hair that lasts all day, I think it might actually be 2B, I'll let you guys decide.

That's awesome Lynaea. I'm glad you might have found a HG product. Let's us know if it continues to work. May have to check my local Marshals for some

So I have been reading another great thread regarding long plops. So I tweaked my routine a little and had some awesome volume with nice roots(thanks to dusalocks ). What I did this time is applied my stylers as usual. With my head upside down and via SS method. Then I plopped for over a hour, and after scrunched with flour sack towel. I diffused like Meza, but first pixie diffused for couple mins to "set" my curls... then side to side....Frizz is a lot less with the added volume. Just wanted to share, will attempt again. Fingers crossed

did anyone notice that she used ouidad climate control gel? it has both a water soluble dimethicone and non-soluble dimethicone. i wonder if using a cone makes a difference? not that i would want to get into that cycle again!

I think she can use just about anything! She has very strong curl pattern, and they appear to be consistent all over her head...lucky girl.

Her product of choice, per another vid, is curl keeper, and she's able to use it alone!

I have that ouidad gel and it did nothing for me. I also can't use CK by itself.

Hope you're not in northeast Florida (yup I'm a FL girl too), I think I cleaned them all out!

When you say SS method (in some of your other posts) do you mean super soaker? Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything !
