Default revive curls at windy days

Hi curlies!

I'm still rather new (almost 3 weeks CG, almost 5 weeks curly out of denial) and I'm still figuring out how to manage my hair and to revive my curls. My hair already got healthier.

I don't really have a problem with 2nd or 3rd day (even 4th) hair. When I go to bed I pineapple my hair and the next morning I just take the scrunchie out, shake my head and my hair normally (except at 1/10 of the days) looks like the evening before. I don't add any product.
Does this mean I'm very lucky with 2nd day hair?
However... I would still like to try if I get my hair even better than 1st day hair...

As you noticed, my real problem isn't 2nd day hair, but wind...
It makes me sooo frustrated... (Btw, if you want to know what my hair looks like before the wind: now I guess more 2c-ish than 2bish)
I leave home with a good hairday, get in the wind and my hair gets destroyed. My clumps get separated, I get tons of volume and frizzzzz...

Anyone got any ideas to solve my problem?
Ideas to 1) protect my hair against the wind and 2) revive my curls if the wind caught my hair no matter what? (oh and I'm not looking for ready products since I probably can't get them here anyway, more looking for DIYthings)

Thank you!

If you hear of something good, please tell me, too, since wind is the worst! Nothing ruins my hair like wind. I hate it.

It's not perfect, but I always have a scrunchie in my purse to whip out for a quick ponytail. It gets me from my car into work when the weather is blustery. My winter coat has a microfiber hood and I always have a scarf tied to my purse or in a jacket pocket.

I also have a spray bottle in my office. A few spritzes of water and maybe a little smoothing or finger curling with wet hands will get things back into place.

If it's windy outside and I know I'm going to be out, I often start with a messy bun or an updo of some kind.

I'm anxious to hear what others have to add.

My hair is hopeless when it's windy. I do roller sets in winter when it's windy because the curls just get blown to bits. When the dewpoint changes, I'll go back to curls because then roller sets are hopeless. My hair is schizoid! Or maybe bipolar. Or maybe just a great big PITA.

I don't have any tips for wind, but what do you put on your hair the first day in order to get such great second day hair?

Since you don't use product, you might try a spray bottle with some condish and water. That way you can try to twirl/reform the clumps a little.

For a homemade product with some hold, you could try FSG, but the hold may not be strong enough for the wind.

You could consider on windy days using some (store bought) gel to help maintain the hold.

elizard: I use yes to cucumbers conditioner, then ultra doux conditioner with avocado and karité butter (probably not available where you live) and then another time yes to cucumbers conditioner.
When I get outside the shower I use Taft mousse for curls, then plop for 10 minutes, diffuse for 10 minutes (I used to airdry in the beginning, but it's really toooo cold now) and finish my hair with 2-3 drops jojoba oil.
The next days I don't use any product at all. (and I really move a lot when I sleep, don't have anything satin, just pineapple my hair)

Jas: I have bought a spray today but I was wondering how much water and how much conditioner I should mix... should it be half/half or not?

That's really a judgement call. :/ May take some trial and error. I'd start with 1/3 condish 2/3 water, and adjust from there.

I've heard of people mixing some gel in with that mixture, as well, so that's something to consider.

What I do, is apply a type of hair milk, then spray it with holding spray to keep it in place. Also, it never hurts to wear a hat.
I still find that my curls are a bit ruined afterwards, when this happens, I spray them all over with conditioner spray, and scrunch.
It's very effective.
