I use FSG winter, spring , summer, and fall. It is this best stuff. I don't think it matters what season you use it. Its beneficial at anytime. :-) I use heyfranhey's FSG recipe on YT.

FSG works well for me regardless of the weather. You can customize it to suit your own needs by adding or not adding certain ingredients. If you do a search on FSG additives, you'll find all kinds of ideas (epsom salts, oils, honey, glycerin, protein, etc.).

HGs: FSG, anything with glycerin, Tresemme Naturals conditioner, Curls Like Us cloths, satin pillowcases.
The great thing about FSG is you can customize it with goodies depending of time of the year...so in the winter you might want some mag sulfate with oils...while in spring summer maybe oil with more agave nectar/honey for hold...these are just general ideas and maybe not be accurate… I myself cannot use FSG, its just sits on top of my hair, and it clumps my hair so well…that I have medusa hair…not my thing…so I use okra gel instead..its actually BB’s styling mudd...and I have her tweak the ingredients to what I want for spring/summer…that’s the wonderful thing…you can customize it any way you want… there are several great posts on NC for making your own FSG…just do a general search and read some of the posts…. and see what others with similar hair properties use…

I add aloe vera gel (1 tsp), vitamin e oil (1 tsp) and 4 drops lavender oil to help preserve it and give it a nice smell. my understanding is the juice from the flaxseed is basically a light emollient/anti-humectant in its properties bc it moisturizes the hair (omega 3 fatty acids) so it is safe to use year round in all weather. my hair loves it. if ur into clumps (i have a lot of hair) it is a good thing

When it's still hot but not boiling. A few minutes after squeezing it from the strainer and transferring it to my container. I use Lily of the Valley AVG which I got at Whole Foods I think ($8-on sale) and Trader Joe's Vitamin E Oil which ran me around $6 or less. . . to get the clumps I just smooth on and scrunch up! Nothing fancy. It just glues your curls together for some reason. Like magic.

Also I don't have a denman brush so I wouldn't know. . . Some people say it helps with clumping.

I use a finely knit mesh strainer. I only boil my flaxseeds maybe 7-10 minutes on medium-high heat 'til I notice it is both runny and mucusy on the spoon. Then I strain. It always strains easily for me. At the end I squeeze down on the strainer with the back of a spoon and sort of knock the flaxseeds around to get whatever is leftover and has not strained yet. I don't know what happens when you add the AVG to it when it's gone cold or been refrigerated. I like to add it when the FSG is warm/hot so it is easier to mix. Yup I add all my additives when it has been transferred to the container. Word to the wise, you can get a lot of essential oils like fenugreek, orange, rosemary, etc from this site:

Search - now essential oil - iHerb.com

I think user aqua_lily has a discount code in her signature I need to seek out too. Anyways scroll down to the bottom for the 1 fl oz bottles. Lavendar and grapefruit are there and they both will help preserve the FSG. I am going a little crazy trying to decide upon which two EOs to buy though. They all look good. Recs anyone?

Personally I cant stand lavendar smell for an long time idk why it smells good but Idk cant stand it for long.and rosemary mm idk that smell too strong for me.
