So Kathymack could I add this sucragel to the okra gel? This dose sound like an awesome ingredient. I may need to order some tonight or tomorrow. Hmm… Also could this SKB be added to the gel?. My hair is so fine and semi-thin... that this sounds AMAZING. Let us know when you recieve your order KAthymack.

I really don’t want to add glycerin to my okra gel. Would I be able to purchase a sample from you for the SKB. And then the sucragel I can purchase from mountainherb?. By any chance would you have an idea how much to start adding with? I may just PM you

The dewpoint wasn't high, but the humidity was 90%. My hair was great all day--shiny, tight curls with minimal frizz. Sucragel AOF is almond oil, sucrose and glycerin in combo. It's a "sticky" substance. My hair doesn't have problems absorbing it, at all. And I can't use a straight oil or butter on my hair.

I'm unaware of any place in US that sells small amounts of Sucragel. I bought 2 kilos. I only got around a quart of SKB, so will have that available when it arrives, too. It will take over a week to get here.

Shelly - Just answering your question concerning Sucragel, but as far as I can tell, there is no supplier in the US that sells it. The only place that I saw that sells it is Aromatics, a UK based company.

Here's the link: Make natural skin care and cosmetic products with Aromantic Ltd.

Its kind of expensive (100ml/3.4oz is about 15.00 usd) with shipping for me.. its 27.65 USD.. so I might be waiting a little since 3.4oz will cost me almost $30.00.

(If anyone knows of another supplier for sucragel let me know, otherwise i'm going to hold off for the moment.)

I JUST found a recipe for DIY sucragel... supposed to work just about the same, or just as well. Here it is:

Cold process emulsifier for DIY and used for making oily gels.

Glycerin 50%
Oil 30 %
Sucrose stearate 10%
Water / Hydrosol 10%

#1. Glycerin + H20 = homogeneous
#2. Sucrose Stearate + ^^^ + 70-80 C (158 - 176 F) = homogeneous
#3. Oil heated to 70- 80 C (158 - 176 F) combine at same temp.
#4. Store in sterilized container. = Done
#5. Keep refrigerated up to 3 months or add a preservative.

It will cool into a very stiff paste.

I found this info here: http://skincare.boards.net/thread/377
