I move that Jas, Jules, Rustina and I form a support group for 2C-3B hair patterns.

Latest curly hair woe. . . has anybody ever woken up breathing through their mouth because so much hair was in their face? Happened to me this morning. I suppose this could be a straight haired person or even a long haired person gripe too. But curls take up more space. It's like an octopus is sitting on your face.

Then last week another lady who works there commented on my hair and said "your hair naturally does that right? It must be so easy just being able to roll out of bed in the morning and be ready to go!" All I could respond with was "um... It definitely isn't that easy" and was really tempted to give her a break down of my entire curly process.... If only she knew!

And I told her yes, that my hair wasn't quite dry enough to take them out. She asked what they were for, and when I told her, she said, "Oh, I'm glad to know it doesn't just look perfect on its own every day!" And I was flattered that she thinks my hair looks perfect, and also perplexed that she thought it didn't take any work to get it to look how it does. I think people with straight hair really think there's no effort involved at all, which is a teeny bit annoying but also kind of cute. Let 'em be jealous of my "effortless" hair, lol!

Dusalocks and Jas, I think we're hair triplets! Waves? Check. One side that waves at the roots and then spirals at the ends? Check. A bunch of random 3A bits? Check. A whole lotta 3B bits, mostly underneath where no one but me knows they're there? Check!

I love this thread! Thanks u guys for the responses. I think its bc im PMS ing that i took the comments to heart.

Ugh! So my hair has been curly since Sunday. I get to work today and ppl are just noticing i went back curly -___- and they seemed disappointed.

One girl goes "Noooo, why did u go back to curly??!!"

I snapped and went "BECAUSE I LIKE MY HAIR CURLY! AND BECAUSE IT WAS DIRTY AND STANK!!!" lol...totally unprofessional but im sick of ppl this week.

Okay...so lets talk about these companies who make products for us curlies.............but don't sell jumbo sized bottles.

Irks me.

Rustina--Yes, but don't you think it's especially common with the 3As? Our hair is very transient. (Hence the support group.) I feel like there are so many solid 3Bs and 3Cs but with us our hair can go really curly one day and curly wavy the next depending on weather, product, hormones, etc. But yes, most days will be 3A days.

SmilingElephant, there is nothing worse than a 12 ounce bottle of conditioner with the word "curly" on its label. It's like a joke.

I would love to have even bigger bottles of Yes to Cucumbers, and that's already a giant bottle for Belgium...
As my other conditioner I use ultra doux and those are like... 8oz or so?
And I need to buy sooooo much of them...

Also really crappy: you lose a lot of product that just sticks on the bottle...
Does anyone of you, like me, cut open the bottle when you feel you don't get out a lot of it anymore just to get the last bit of conditioner out of the bottle?
When I get to the bottom of the bottle, I add some water and shake it up, then use whatever comes out as a rinse. I can't bear to throw away a bottle of conditioner, especially an expensive one, that still has even a trace of product in it!

Dusa - yes, I agree with you. I see that my reply kind of looked like I was including people with all those primary curl patterns, but what I really meant was people like us who have all those patterns on one head!! I wish I was a "solid" anything, really, just to have some day-to-day consistency.

I totally agree with everything everyone has said lol. I absolutely hate people touching my hair randomly. It drives me insane. When I used to straighten it, people would ask me if it was my real hair, and now that I keep it curly they ask me if I permed it...

My hair seems to have a mind of its own and depending on what combination of products I use I can look like a super curly 3b or change to a mix of 3a/3b or have really tight curls of 3b/3c. Lately its been frustrating the hell out of me since the weather is changing here in NOVA. Every gel i've been using has been giving me white flakes. I should say "every FSG that i've been formulating is giving me white flakes".

I've made it with honey, less honey, no honey change to agave, some aloe, a little aloe, now i'm trying one with no aloe and no honey.. I got flakes again but I think its because I used the Spiral Solutions Curl Enhancing Jelly underneath it and it also has dead sea salt and I put magnesium oil in my FSG. I'm hoping its just the salt that caused the flakes.. so many formulations and only 1 so far (most recent version) has shown promise.

Strangers touching your hair noooo! Maybe we should reach out and yank on some of theirs so they think twice next time they meet a curly.

I always cut to the bottom of the bottle. And swish with water for a conditioner rinse to top myself off.

CFcurls, have you tried just straight up FSG all by its lonesome to see whether or not that gives you flakes? Maybe the problem might be the flax seeds. I hope not though. It's just you never know what will or won't agree with your hair.

This week's curly hair gripe, I can't find okra. ANYWHERE. Okay, that might be more of a mixtress in California gripe rather than a curly one. I'm gonna hit some bodegas later this week.

Okay, I have a naturally curly dot com gripe. Don't you guys hate the spam? Seriously. It's bad enough on its own but it's even worse when these opportunists use a freaking national tragedy and an attempted attack on our president as an excuse to plug "Spring Breakers" and other frivolous nonsense.

Look, I know the poor moderators probably have a hard enough time cutting down on spam and keeping this stuff off the boards and I know whoever is posting the spam isn't likely to read this but seriously, "kirpaha" and company, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.

My first post in a while:

My hair has actually been behaving about 90% of the time, which is a major miracle.

My gripes:

1. My hair is basically waist-length (or longer stretched). The catch? It's barely (I mean barely shoulder length dry), and that's only when I use heavier products (which I prefer on my med-coarse hair). The shrinkage is killing me mentally.

2. My hair is going down instead of out now, because it's getting longer (i.e. just more massive). The gripe part: I can't get any definition on the top (and the first 2-3 inches). It's disaster-ville no matter what I do.

3. My hair takes forever and a half to dry, with the products that make it healthy, and takes way shorter with the products that kill it. There's no win in this situation.

4. (And somebody said this). Why do they only make 12 oz containers? My hair is past waist length stretched, and I have a lot of it. It's also somewhat coarse, and low porosity (veery difficult to penetrate). I'm wondering how in the world that amount of conditioner is going to last more than 2 weeks, if that.

5. My hair clumping changes basically whenever it feels like it.
Hair Type: 3c, Med-High Density, Low Porosity

Others: CJ Curl Rehab, Jojoba Oil

I said this in another thread, but i think there should be a Curly Pride Day or a Curly Awareness month. I think that would be awesome, especially if NC sponsored it.

Totally agree about the small bottles, also the thick products which you can't get out of the bottle after halfway through without cutting it open with a knife! Put it in a tub, please! I know it is more likely to get water in when in a tub, but with most DTs I usually put them on out of the shower and not with the water running.
UK based wavy

Mostly waves, but curls and straight bits too!
Fine to medium, high porosity, medium density, very low elasticity
Highlights damage (growing it out), seems to like protein and need lots of moisture.

Cleanse - CJDF, trying out low poos ; Co wash- Uk chemist brands, Urtekram Rose or Aloe, Hairveda Amala Cream Rinse; RO - varies, Tigi Moisture Maniac, Desert Essence Coconut ; Leave in - Keracare natural textures; Sealant - argan oil
Trying out new things, still looking.
Lets talk about sacrificing nice curls for more sleep in the morning lol!!

I resort to a recycled wash n go puff or bun everyday for work done on 2-4 day hair lol

Latest curly hair issue, my hair is too big for just one shower cap. Am I the only one who is finding it increasingly difficult to shower on her "off days"?
