What I did today:

This is what I did today, and I am very happy with the results, but I do have more questions. First of all it was raining here (again) all day. I shampood with Yes to Cucumbers (coco betaine); conditioned with TN, and did not add any more as a LI, because I thought perhaps the "soft by the end of the day" might signal too much conditioner. Then I applied AVG. wrapped it in a curlease towel briefly (5 min); then I applied CK. Over CK, I applied just a bit of Biotera gel, which has always worked well for me. I have near perfect curls today, and they are holding up all day. My question is: what made the difference, the Biotera gel, or the Yes to Cucumbers shampoo?? and if it is the Yes to Cucumbers shampoo, does that mean I should change to that, even tough I shampoo every day?oh, please, increase my prozac, someone!
IF I was a betting woman I'd put my money on the gel although a good shampoo to remove buildup and allow products to do their job might be of note

I'd say the gel as well. But like Dusa said, clarifying msy have helped. If your hair didn't need conditioner as a LI, that also could have helped the gel work better too.

Ready to get back on the CG bandwagon!
Myrna, I think Shampoo should have really helped, I am with the gel concept also. Lately here in MN its a droppy weather Rain/snowy mix and I have been using more gel instead of conditioner and my curls are so bouncy with so much root curl.

But - do I continue to use the Yes to shampoo? or is coco betaine hard on the hair for daily use?

I definitely think the gel is what made the difference for your hair since the shampoo was completely rinsed out I don't see what it could have possibly have done for your hair for the brief time it was on it. If you like the shampoo go ahead and keep using it.

Maybe you could just do a conditioner rinse if you want to wash and go in the mornings? Or maybe just wet your hair with a spritzer and re-apply a little product? Re-wetting works fine for me as it will reactivate the product in my hair, sometimes I add a little more in some spots. HTH

Glad you had good hair, Myrna!

Here are my thoughts.

I think with the AVG and the glycerin in the CK, maybe the LI is not needed in these warmer months. You might in the lower dews, so keep that on the back burner for fall/winter!

As for the poo, I'd say try it with your SM tomorrow and see how it goes. I alternate between coco beating poo, to SM poo, to co-washing, and the rare complete clarifying poo.

If you try the SM poo, leave off the LI, and do everything the way you did today, you'll see if its the shampoo or the technique. (Well, you'll at least have a better idea of it!)

That's just my two cents!

Because you had the "softening", it makes me think the LI might have been the issue. So I'd start there.

Same as yesterday - but with a SM shampoo, the MR. Result: great curls again. So, its the aloe, and the bit of Biotera gel. Now I have a question about AVG, and I will post that. Thanks so much to my curlfriends here! what a great bunch of gals!
I'm so happy you found something that is working!! I know how frustrated you were!
