Does anyone use CJ Pattern Pusha?

Or tried it and would like to share their thoughts?

there's a thread in readers' products forum about pattern pusha. i use it on dry or damp hair, love it!

Thank You!

bumping this thread as cj pp has become an HG in low/mid dews for me!

i started out this winter trying it on dry hair and liked the results. about a week ago i started thinking about what i was doing differently this winter from a year ago when my hair did not respond well to pp. the difference is that now i am sealing my hair correctly. a year ago it was if my hair was dry and it had that 'fried' look i'd spot on jc n&s or ss emollience. this year i add either one after my leave in and after i blotted my hair but my hair is still wet.

so, i decided to take the cjpp up a notch and go back to trying it on wet hair. past several days i've done my usual leave in in shower, then blot hair and seal. then i added cj pp -- the results have been GREAT! it has now become a staple product for me. very soft but very bouncy curls. i think that it was just that my hair was losing moisture throughout the day in low dew points, nothing to do with the pp. (while my hair is normal porosity, i think gray hair loses more moisture.)

I really like this gel. As much as KCCC? No. But it gives me similar results, dries very fast, and best of all it comes in a bottle that's a decent size for a person with as much hair as I have. It doesn't dry me out provided I use enough leave in. It's protein free. Its hold is gentle. It defines/contains my curl. My hair isn't left crunchy and it feels like hair. I can use it in wet, damp or dry hair. It smells really pleasant. It's more natural than the average gel. It wasn't tested on animals. I could go on. I use it once a week. It's great when I'm a rush. I probably will repurchase.

Oh, and I live in an arid climate so I can't attest to this product's performance in high dews.

each day i love pp more! LOL! seriously. what i love about is that if i feel i'd like a little more definition, hold, i'll put some on my hands when i scrunch out my hair. and ti works out very well. this gel is sooooo all-around -- wet or dry hair. low/mid dews. i am sure it will work very well in high dews also. i love cj aloe fix in high dews, it is my high dews HG, but it would be nice to have a 2nd gel that is also good.
for those who used the jar version -- the pump bottle version does NOT flake at all!

Corrina777 04-25-2013 10:56 AM

I had the jar version and liked it well enough. I got consistent results, but I didn't think it was amazingly better than the other stuff I was trying. But I just caved ad ordered the jar version so I can give it a try again, especially since I know so much more about my hair now than I did then. Looking forward to trying it!

you mean you ordered the pump bottle? (unless you went to a swap, don't think jar is available anymore). i used both, think you will love the pump version.

Corrina777 04-25-2013 11:09 AM

Yep. It was part of my post-black belt/tax refund product binge. Hoping to try it tomorrow, otherwise I have to wait until at least Monday because I'm traveling this weekend and absolutely not traveling with a pump bottle.

I'm so undecided about this product! It doesn't give much hold but I think it helps define my waves. A little wave enhancement. Today I was going to wear it straight so I squeezed most of the water out. Then I decided to scrunch in a little Oyin Hair Dew and CJ PP and plopped. Waves looked decent and I had some nice clumps!

Jessiebanana 04-25-2013 09:56 PM

You guys are making me so excited to try this. My package needs to get here now!

anonymous_133347 04-25-2013 10:48 PM

That is why I love/hate ordering online. Plus side, something to look forward to. Downside, when oh when is it gonna get here? :laughing6:

Jessiebanana 04-25-2013 10:59 PM

I really shouldn't complain. This is my first time ordering from Aveyou and they shipped the same day!

Yeah...Curlmart just lost a customer :toothy10:.

anonymous_133347 04-25-2013 11:02 PM

Ooo I got my PP from Aveyou as well. It shipped in three days flat. It was packaged nicely and I also received a pretty reusable bag I could take with me to buy groceries and a $25 off $100 purchase coupon. I love Aveyou!

I finally got a bottle today and decided to try it "naked" as it were--that is, no leave-in (which I always, always use) and no other product on top.

My hair looks pretty not thrilling. The clumps are fine and the curls are spirally (but a bit longer than with some other curl enhancers), but the frizz. I am not prone to frizz. Even after diffusing nearly totally dry a couple times a week, I have minimal frizz. With just pattern pusha alone, frizz is an issue. I mean, webbing frizz like I haven't seen since I began this journey with natural hair in 2009.

I'm gonna wait and let it settle and see what I can put on top that might work. But for me, alone, on wet hair--not so much.

I could not get it to work for me at all until this summer when I tried it in high dews paired with a Giovanni gel. Prior to that, every use (which was in low dews) turned out to be a complete disaster.

rbb 09-24-2013 06:29 AM

mircurls -- when i first used the pump bottle pp my hair hated it. however, i kept it on hand and last winter started using it on dry or damp hair, great results. a couple of months later i used it on wet hair, with some leave in and a sealant (usually jane carter n&s), loved it. and i've used it on and off this summer and now and still like it.
it never gives me frizz, always gives me shine and decent curls. not only does it not give me frizz, i can use it on the canopy to get rid of frizz. i don't get tight curls with pp but i do get curls and great hair that is shiny and does not have frizz. i prefer using it over other stylers as it gives my hair consistent results. with other stylers i may have a wow day but then i can also have a very bad day. pattern pusha is the styler i carry when i am away from home, it's the one i use when i absolutely need to have a good hair day.
for me, the difference i thought at first was sealing my hair. a huge difference. this summer i did not always do that and still had good hair with pp. what also works best for me with it is a little leave in and more pp. and i've gone back to using a sealant as the dew points are dropping here.
i say keep trying. i'd use a little leave in, maybe like cj beauticurls leave in. i've used that and i've used a tiny bit of curl rehab. oftentimes curl junkie products work when i figure out the best products/routines to use with it, then it becomes a staple for me.
or, it just may not be right for your hair. but i'd give it a try with leave in first.

etos 09-24-2013 07:36 PM

I love Curl Junkie pattern pusha! It gives me a light/medium hold whitout the crunchy feeling and whitout frizz. It doens't contain glycerin, what is also a plus for me in low or high dew points.

chupie 09-24-2013 09:45 PM

I LOVE it. During the high dew week we had the week i got it a couple weeks ago. Work just awesome for my waves under brhg.

chupie 09-24-2013 09:47 PM

I have to agree with leave in. I use a little SMCES under it. And I mean a little. Works great.
