ISO gel without polyquats or protein

I use a small amount of gel with my CK, but I would like to find a gel with no protein or polyquats. I have been using Biotera, but I see it has polyquat 4 in in.
Hi Myrna!

I just purchased 4 Naturals Spring Back Curling Custard...haven't tried it yet but I was also looking for something protein & polyquat free. I actually wish I could find a mousse that's protein & polyquat & paraben free but no luck there.

Hi, Misbehave:

That looks like a good one. Although actually, I cant really complain about Biotera gel. I wonder if Sally has a no- quat no protein gel...but you are right about mousse - they all have polyquats, and also, usually, some kind of protein. Even Deva foam has polyquats- polyquat 60 in fact, whatever that is. Although I dont know that they are harmful. I shampoo daily so I doubt anything builds up on my hair.
Jane Carter's Wrap & Roll doesn't have quats or protein. It does have a slew of plant extracts...my hair has never reacted to them in this formulation somehow.

Ingredients: DDeionized Water, Anthemis Noblis Flower (Camomile), Symphytum Officinal Leaf (Comfrey), Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail), Urtica Dioica (Nettle), Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Humulus Lupulus (Hops), Lawsonia Inermis (Henna), Certified Organic Essential Oils: Lemon, Grapefruit, Coco-Sultaine, Glycerine, Phenoxyethanol.

This is a light and airy mousse, not gel though.
The Garnier Pure Clean gel has no polyquats or protein. Have you tried any jelly type products? I don't think Kinky Curly Curling Custard or Curly Kinks Coil Jam has polyquats or proteins.
2C/ Coarse/ Normal porosity/ SW Florida/ Salt & Pepper

Recommendations will vary depending on the type of product you want (jelly, gel, liquid) & the level of hold you need, as well as your specific hair properties.

I avoid all 'quats & most proteins on a regular basis & I love gel, so I'm always looking for something new.

I have tried the Garnier Pure & Clean, but I found the "extra hold" pretty wimpy & it gave me spider-web frizz.

My current favorite is Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz. It has aloe, horsetail & nettle extracts, which bother some protein sensitive folks, but seem okay for me. On my hair it gives great hold & very little frizz, but I can't use too much.

Aubrey Organics B-5 gel is another option, although it is runnier & doesn't have hard hold. It just "sat" on my hair, but I know some folks love it.

Kiss My Face Upper Management gel gives great hold, but the hops make it a no-go for me. Frizz city.

KCCC & the like (jellies) seem to be more about curl elongation/enhancement, rather than hold & for that reason I consider them stylers, not true gels. Two separate product categories, at least for me.

Good luck with your search!
