Curl Pattern: 3a/b
Texture: Fine
Porosity: low
Density: medium
Elasticity: normal
Characteristics: very short pixie now!! -- hair gets curlier as it gets longer, wavy underlayer, frizz prone, never tangles, dries out easily

CG/ModCG/not CG: mod CG

Ingredients hair likes: I know what my hair doesn't like
Ingredients hair dislikes: protein, glycerin, straight oil

HG/Go-to Products: curl rehab, yes to cukes, AIF, HESMU gel

Average climate/dew points: HOT HOT HOT, very humid S. Florida

Hard water!!!!

Fall/Winter combos: None
Spring/Summer combos: LI + hard hold gel year round, that's it. Too many layers just sit on my hair.

Favorite styling techniques and why: super soaker -- with longer hair gives me great clumps, with pixie I still use super soaker to get less frizz; baking soda and ACV rinses; raking in products

Techniques that didn’t work and why: plopping (when hair was long) gave me frizz and wonky curls, spritzing dry hair (frizz), co-washing exclusively leads to too much build up, sealing (stringy frizz), conditioner only styling (frizzy poofy mess)

Hair Twins: kathymack but our hair doesn't know it
3a/b, fine texture, low porosity, normal elasticity, mod-CG 7/11/11

Poo: KC Come Clean, SM Moisture Retention
CO: CJ Curl Rehab, CJ Argan & Olive Oil, Renpure Argan Oil, YTCucumbers, Sevi Pumpkin
Style: AIF, HESMU, Biolage gelee, KCCC
LOOB for second day hair

Like BS/ACV rinses, limit protein/humectants.

With the low porosity hair, the clips just seem to slide in my hair. Right now Iím experimenting clipping with the super tiny claw clips.

Curl Pattern: 2C/3A, with some 2B and 3B
Texture: fine
Porosity: medium
Density: extremely high
Elasticity: I don't know
Characteristics: flat top (which I like), ringlets, verrry long (30 inches as of now)

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Ingredients hair likes: PROTEINS!, panthenol, fatty alcohols, argan oil, coconut oil, castor oil, shea butter, grapeseed oil
Ingredients hair dislikes: anything too heavy, peppermint oil, peppermint extract, PVP. Hair is easily weighed down.

HG/Go-to Products:
- EO Keratin Conditioner Coconut & Hibiscus. This stuff. IT'S AMAZING.
- Nature's Gate Chamomile Replenishing. This is a sulfate free shampoo, or low-poo. It removes light build-ups and over-conditioning without stripping it dry. My hair loves this stuff and it has proteins.
- l'Oreal Elvive Volume Collagen. The new formula is without isopropyl alcohol (the old formula had it reaaally low on the list so I used it then as well, no drying issues at all btw). It's a really nice co-wash, it's light and it has some proteins. Lately I've been expirimenting with it by using it as a leave in as well, and my hair comes out great, my curls are so defined. I love light styling products.
- Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll. This is a mousse. I don't know what ingredient(s) makes it so awesome, but it is. Makes my hair look great everytime it comes out not so great from washing. smells great too. Light hold.

Average climate/dew points: average. I can use humectants now.
Fall/Winter combos: I don't have season-bound combos.
Spring/Summer combos: I don't have season-bound combos.

Favorite styling techniques and why: scrunching upside down (gives volume), rinse with cold water (gives clumps), plopping before styler instead of after (otherwise hair looks weird)
Techniques that didn’t work and why: pixie diffusing I don't know why, but it makes my hair flat and stringy, my curls less defined.... and it just looks bad in general.

Every time I see this post I want to participate but there are a lot of things I am unsure of at this point so I will just fill in as best I can and update later.

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 2c/b and I wonder if maybe a bit of 3a at times too.
Texture: fine
Porosity: this I am unsure of, but I am going with normal for now
Density: medium/high
Elasticity: low/normal
Characteristics: ie: Curlier towards the front, wavy in the back, and I get some rope curls on the back underside layers. Some times I get straight sections on the back underside too. Prone to a lot of frizz on my crown. Hair can change drastically from day to day and depending on what I do to it. My curls are not very resilient and the idea of 2nd day hair is pretty far fetched for me because of this.

CG/ModCG/not CG: Mod CG at this time... almost by accident. I decided to go natural in february and through the recommendations on youtube ended up sulfate free, but many of the products I am still using (trying to not waste and still deciding on what to try next) have things like cones, polyquats, and a few others things I plan to try going without next.

Ingredients hair likes: I haven't tried enough to really know yet, but my hair reacted very well to doing the acv rinse.
Ingredients hair dislikes: Again I haven't figured this out yet, but I am starting to wonder about oils. In the past I tried coconut oil and wasn't very impressed, but I might try again now that I know a bit more.

HG/Go-to Products: still looking unfortunately.

Average climate/dew points: I live in the Portland area. I don't know how it stacks up against other areas, but I know it's more humid than I am used to coming from northern ID/MT. Still figuring out the dew point thing, but it's in the 50's now.

Fall/Winter combos:
Spring/Summer combos:

Favorite styling techniques and why: Liking a long (hr) plop to get the curls started. Also finding that the least amount of touching/combing/manipulating I do the better for my curls and frizz. Experimenting with sealers now after having such good results from the acv. Putting product in to very wet hair is best for me.

Techniques that didnít work and why: Raking product into my hair causes stringy curls, scrunching also seems to break them up, putting product into damp hair makes my curls stretch and break apart, and frizz. Tried rinsing or soaking upside down before plop but it causes my hair to lay funny. Not sold on gels yet as the scrunching in usually breaks up curls and causes stringy frizzy mess.

Hair Twins: I seem to relate to many of you on a lot of things so hoping I can get a good idea of my next moves by watching this thread.
shellyRN07swavy and c0mpanion like this.
Thanks for everyone posting to this thread. I have found a couple products I would like to try based on your responses

I do want to add, that I am still using my okra gel and have been tweaking my recipe for summer. I am liking my hair so far. I also have been using a low poo every other wash with a little heavier conditioner/LIs. With the high dews, the LI seems to help tame the frizz. I do get O/C'd very easy thus the low poo EO wash is needed. Those seeking a light product should give okra gel a try. It VERY easy to make, just need to buy the additives. I paid about $50 for all the ingredients, BUT that will give me at least 2 YEARS worth of gel!!!!!

Hair Biography

Curl Pattern: 3b with a few 3c sprinkled in
Texture: fine
Porosity: normal
Density: medium to high (I have a TON of hair!!!!)
Elasticity: normal
Length: chin length when dry, mid neck when wet
Characteristics: root curl especially if products aren't raked in, frizzy canopy, less frizz and more defined curls underneath, "s" curls art of the way down and ends are spirals, curlier once it dries

CG/ModCG/not CG: CG

Hair ingredient likes: protein, moisture, I think humectants
Hair ingredient dislikes: not sure yet but possibly polyquats

Hard/Soft Water: medium? I live in the city but I don't think it's too hard but it definitely isn't soft like when I'm at my cottage

HG/Go-to Products: Biolage CB, KCCC/ KCKT, TN moisture, 50:50

Average climate/dew points: low dews in winter and high dews in summer, just starting to get to the high ones now

Fall/Winter combos: minimal hold, last winter I was just using a curl cream
Spring/Summer combos: still experimenting but am liking KCKT/KCCC

Favorite styling techniques and why: raking in products and then scrunch-and-pump the lower half of my length upright (if I scrunch upside down or too vigorously it causes frizz on my curls themselves and horrible canopy frizz), the less I touch my canopy the better, scrunch out excess water with microfibre towel and clip sections
Techniques that didn’t work and why: scrunching upside down (too much frizz and products not distributed), plopping for too long (wonky curls, dang fine hair), clipping roots (looks weird, wayy too much root volume, I prefer clipping sections)

Hair Twins: don't know yet but possibly domino, and lcl0706
3B, fine texture, normal porosity, normal elasticity

Starting CG over beginning June 2013

Co-Wash: Treseme Naturals
Cleanse: Waiting on DB and CJDF
Rinse out: Biolage CB, Yes to Carrots, Giovanni 50:50
LI: Treseme Naturals, Yes to Carrots
Stylers: KCCC
PT: IAgirl's PT

No: Polyquats, BTMS in leave-ins/stylers
Yes: Protein, ACV, Oils
