A day before yesterday I went to the hairdresser's and got a nice haircut. He added some heat to dry my hair and it got extremely straight. I felt like a moviestar, so I said it's okay this way. I'll make it curly tomorrow. Then he gave me a serum of some sort and my hair got very smooth.
Yesterday I wore it nice and curly, but it still looked a bit greasy.
Today I wanted to wash my hair with a SLES poo to clarify, but it went worse, so another poo and even a Kesham (ayurvedic herbs) wash. But as soon as my hair gets dryer it gets completely soft and weight down. My hair can't hold the curls! And it feels very soft with a plastic feel to it. It still looks wet while dry and completely suffocated.

Is baking soda the best solution to completely clarify my hair from this disaster?
Do I put the bs/water mixture in dry hair?

My hair HATES baking soda! Makes it hard and dry.

My favorite for clarifying is the generic Nexus Aloe Rid. I haven't used a cone in years (if ever.) But sometimes I have trouble getting other ingredients out. This is my "last resort" shampoo. I used to do it once a year whether I needed to or not. Hadn't done it in a while, had period of not great hair, none of the lowpoos seemed to do it--and this got my hair back to normal. It was a little dry, but lots of TLC and moisturizing products took care of that.

I'm on the other side of this, my hair loves baking soda. I tend more towards over moisturizer and the bs seems to balance me back out.

But I read that Behentrimonium Methosulfate can build-up on hair. And ALL of my conditioners contain this! I even use it in my washing conditioner. So I figured this might be the problem.
I cannot find the ingredients list of the Nexxus poo you mentioned, but do you think that this will really work? I already tried a non-sulfate poo, a sulphate poo and kesham. But it only seems to build-up more..

Like kathymack's, my hair does not respond well to baking soda. I have experienced more damage from doing a baking soda cleanse than from clarifying with a pH balanced sulfate shampoo (Curly Hair Solutions Treatment Shampoo, which left my hair in very good condition).

I'm too lazy to go upstairs and look. Here's what I found online:
Amazon.com: Nexxus Aloe Rid Gentle Clarifying Shampoo, 13.5 fl oz (400 ml): Beauty
There were two lists of ingredients for it.

Couldn't find the generic on the Sally's site.

I loved baking soda but I stopped using it because of its pH. Every scientific medium I read agreed that it's too abrasive for hair. It cleansed my hair really well though...albeit while possibly causing cuticle damage, but well

Try and find a proper clarifying shampoo...it's probably for the best.
rapunzel4ever and misbehave like this.
Because I needed to clarify right away and I can get Nexxus products only on the internet, I looked up some ingredient lists of clarifying poo's on NC.com and compared them to products in our bathroom. I found that my DH is using a non-sulfate clarifying poo :Palmer's Cocos Shampoo. Andon the bottle it says 'removes build-up'. So that is what I used this morning (twice).
Now my hair is nice and clean, I can now see how fine it really is and a bit flyaway. I wonder how soon it will be dry and how it will look when it is...

My roots are extremely soft right now, I don't like that feel of extreme clean hair, but now I can finally say that my hair has no build-up anymore :-)

Thanks for all your help! ( I might order the Nexxus next time to see if that'll be better)
