Default curly hair with straight bangs??

ive seen alottt of girls leaving their naturally curly hair open but straightening their bangs. on some of them it looks nice but on others it looks weird. its not my style but i think it looks kinda weird. unless u have wavy-ish hair with straight bangs but not dead curly hair. wat do u guys think?

I think it looks nice on loose curl types but I don't think I would look good like that with my curl pattern. I haven't seen any tightly curled curlies with straight bangs.

Until I was about 25 or so, I had 3b hair with straight bangs. I think it looked nice. I'll try and find some pics to show you. Don't know if I have any digital ones.

I've always had bangs and they've always been straight, whether my hair's curly or straightened. I'm a 3 a/b (probably nearer b) and I don't really think it looks right but it's the only way I can stand to look at myself. Curly bangs just look weird on me and I had a disastrous attempt at growing it out last year - just ugly, I need hair on my face!

I could have written this same thing. I'm more of a 2c/3a and I tried going without bangs for a while and I thought it made me look 10 years older (not a good thing when you're in your thirties). So I went back to bangs which I straighten. My DH thinks I should grow them out but I just can't do it. I absolutely hate the way I look without bangs. Maybe it looks weird or 80's like to have curly hair and straight bangs but I just don't know what else to do with them. If I leave them curly they stick out all crazy.

Starmie and Candi I am right there with you. I tried growing mine out last year and even put extensions in them to help things along. As you said it was ugly and disasterous. No bangs just makes me look older and my face too long. My husband actually prefers my bangs straight and my hair curly. My hair is also 3b.

I guess it depnds on how it's done. I've seen it look nice on some.

But, when I saw this thread, I thought of this teenager in a curly hair forum on myspace. She's a 3B with a wide chunk of straight bang. It just looked weird on her. From the front, you couldn't even tell that she had curly hair.

I've tried growing mine out, too, & just can't do it. I feel like I really need them - my face is just too long.

My DH prefers the bangs too, and for him to say something one way or the other (instead of "It looks great either way!"), well, it must look worse without them, LOL!!

Hey I agree with you all. My face is small and long and I need something shorter toward thr front. I dont have bangs but I basically use a gel, cream and straightning balm and then scrunch the shorter part and sides. I have sort of a face framing type cut. Unfortunately, it looks pretty 70s Farrah Fawcettish but wavy/curlier but I don't know what else to do. Regular bangs won;t wk for me because I have a long walk to work and in the summer or on a rainy day it would be a disaster. BTW I am a 3a.
Sometimes I wonder if highlights would help at all.
