Product help

PLEASE HELP! I've been CG for a little over a year. After finding this site I recently sent off for my hair analysis and found out I'm medium texture, normal porosity. All my life I've been told I have coarse extremely dry hair. After looking on here I thought I was high porosity as well even though my hair takes forever to dry. Even after diffusing for 20-30 minutes my hair is still damp hours later. My hair is extremely dense. (when I had shorter flat ironed hair the stylist would shave underneath to thin it out) I never color but I have to diffuse or I would be dripping forever. I used strictly Deva products until about 5 months ago. I was sick of spending so much money on hair products. I have to use a ton of conditioner and gel so my hair won’t frizz and look so dry. I've used some CJ products as well as Giovanni. So maybe I'm overloaded on protein? I need help with product suggestions. I'm so tired of dry unhealthy looking hair. My current routine is CJ Daily Fix or Giovanni Tea Tree (if I feel the need b/c of buildup) RO is Deva OC, LI mixing Tresemme Naturals with a little grapeseed oil to seal then Deva gel. I tried CJ CIAB but it didn't really hold well because my hair is so heavy. I just bought SM curling souffle as well. Not sure about it yet. I've also never really found a good dc. Please help!!

I can't understand a lot of what you wrote--all those letters make no sense to me. I can try to answer what I did decipher. It's typical for people with curly hair to think it's coarse--because it's dry. If you've had the hair analysis, I'd go with that. My hair is low porosity and it's no longer dense. When I worked, I would shower at 6, not use any product, towel dry, diffuse for a bit and head off to work. It wasn't unusual for it to be damp at 11:30. If that gives you an idea.

Many of us start with Deva, think we like it and then move on to other things. The best thing to do is to look for people with similar hair and see what they use (in signature.) That's the best place to start.

Cj - curl junkie

Ro - rinse out

Sm - shea moisture

Dc - deep conditioner

?

I don't know what ciab is.

Deva OC = Deva One Condition
CJ CIAB = Curl Junkie Curls In A Bottle

Autumn, your hair is likely taking "forever" to dry because it's high density. Because of that, it'll probably need more product than someone with normal or low density would use. If you're worried about protein /moisture balance, this page is an excellent reference: Protein vs Moisture Pittsburgh Curly

My hair takes a long time to dry when I have a lot of product in it. I have learned to dry my hair with very very little product and add more after its dry.

Its not as curly but thats bc I'm not manipulating it as much. I realize not everyone can do that.

I don't know what ciab is.

I know what the products are, there were more things like "won’t" which I don't understand. First time I was on, there were even more things like that.

Lol, I saw the original stuff too. It's strange that it disappeared!

You were just trying to help, lol, but there were all these weird programming language bugs scattered through the original post- it was weird!

Ah, sorry KM. I think "won’t" should have been "won't". ’ is html code for an apostrophe. I'd guess that for some reason, that and several other things didn't get processed correctly when you were first looking.

Thanks geek chic! That link helped a lot. My hair definitely hates protein. The protein overload pic looks just like my hair!
