Protein Sensitive needing help with products since everything has a protein in it

I believe that I am protein sensitive because when I use products with protein my hair gets straw like. I can get through half a bottle of Kenra Moisturizing before I get that feeling and in one instance I used Pantene Advance and the straw result was immediate. I also get the same feeling using Aussie 3mm and Biolage but it takes about a week of use. I assume its because of the aloe.

I tried going completely non protein in everything. I tried Suave Naturals, V05, Tresemme Naturals(all 3), and GVP Balm. They cause my hair to feel dry, almost doll like, and undefined. These are my only options for no protein and no aloe that I can get and they are not doing me any good.

Are there some shampoos and conditioners that have a protein ingredient that are very light on the protein? Basically, if I see protein or aloe I just put it back on the shelf but I wonder if I can get away with using a very small amount. If I am looking for light proteins, which ingredients should I look for? Any suggestions for working around these protein land mines?

Btw, can't do CG and I have tried Loreal Ever lines but I can't get over the smell. Thanks.

Soy, vegetable, silk protein I can tolerate in certain products and formulations (emollient heavy products) and I'm protein sensitive. My hair hates wheat protein. Some coarse users report they can only tolerate keratin. Check if the proteins are further down the ingredient list. The further down, the lesser the content = the better. Maybe sure any protein is not in the top five ingredients. Check out this page. I believe since all the products are recommended for coarse hair which is by default protein sensitive they're protein free. Not sure about aloe. I guess you'll have to watch out for that on your own.

For the record, I don't consider panthenol a protein and I guess neither does The Curl Whisperer.

I was about to post asking if Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture conditioner has any kind of protein in it. I've used it for the first time last week trying to find a good cowashing/detangling conditioner as I'm away in the UK and can't get a hold of my usual conditioner from back home.
I put it in my hair, plenty and tried detangling...pfff...I took forever! And my hair could clump up and go straw-like when wet. I tried it again yesterday and today my curls have dried super stringy and many of them are on the straighter kinda side.

My hair feels soft, mind, but I don't what's in Tresemme that it won't work for me.

My Hair Timeline
My hair sounds just like yours Heather. I've been CG over a year but mostly used Deva products. I found this site about 2 months ago and sent off for my hair analysis. Found out I was med texture, normal porosity and elasticity. It was news to me...I've been told by every stylist I've used that my hair is coarse and extremely dry as well. All I can come up with is too much protein. I'm using GVP balm now and TNaturals as a leave in with grapeseed oil as a sealer. That's the fastest stuff I could get locally. My hair is still like straw though. The GVP hasn't been the miracle everyone says it would be. I've just ordered some protein free CJ products today. Can't wait for them to come in. Hopefully my hair will recover eventually.
