Default Bless my mom

She told me on the phone yesterday that she bought a flower patterned tangle teaser for my unborn daughter the other day because she still gets upset thinking about how I would scream when she brushed my hair.

I have vivid memories of sitting at her knees in tears while she tried to get a brush through my damp hair that had been washed in "wash&go" 2in1 shampoo.

I love that I know my daughter will never have to go through that if she's lucky enough to inherit my curls.

Haha, that's really sweet of her! You're lucky to have a Mom like that.

Where'd she get a flower patterned one? I want a flowery one tooooooo!

What a lovely thing to do. I don't know who has the worst memories of detangling my hair as a child, probably equal between me and my mum!

My mum has dead straight hair. And I mean dead straight. I have no memories of horrible detangling sessions bec she kept my hair in a frizzy, bush like hairdo, about an inch long all over

I remember a coworker, who had children before I, saying that she had hoped to have daughters, and envisioned long, curly, flowing hair (like hers) on them.....oddly enough, that vision did not include the girls being wrapped in a towel as she fought to comb their hair, tears being shed by kids and mum alike.....Made me realize that I would keep my future kids' hair short until they were old enough to care for it themselves!

Luckily, both of my girls were bald for the longest time. And then I kept their hair short-ish. My youngest has the oddest hair - dead straight on top, ringlets underneath. She is beyond sensitive to having it brushed, combed, etc so we always have a bottle of 'spritz spritz' (CG safe conditioner mixed with water) and a detangle brush, right in front of the tv where they enjoy brushing their hair in the morning.

They swim weekly and I coat their hair with a conditioner before they go in, helps to protect against the chlorine and makes it easier to detangle later!

I wish that they had such brushes when I was little!

I'm actually planning on not brushing at all, finger combing while slathered in conditioner is as far as I'm willing to go (of course I am banking on her having curly hair, hubbys was poker straight apparently when he still had some)
