rough ends when waking up

I have a satin pillow case and normally I put my hair in a pony tail when i go to bed. Well its bob length and I kinda have to do a tight pony tail or else it wont stay up. (when my hair is longer I just do a very loose pony tail)
Lastnight I decided to sleep with my hair down which i hate, just to see if my hair felt better. well I woke up and my hair looked shockingly good but I dont know how to do second days curls yet anyway so I jumped in the shower and cowashed. My ends were totally rough and felt so dry before i jumped in the shower and even now my ends feel dry and very tangled even after i combed.

does anyone know why my ends are rough? I've been using the same products which my hair loves. I guess my hair didnt like it being out when I slept.
I find it hard to believe that just one night free hair could cause damage. But it depends on your hair properties, if its fine hair, it could be fragile and be damaged. Try deep treatment or sealing ends with oil

I dont think its damaged but they were very rough. I slept with my hair up lastnight and my ends felt fine this morning and today. So maybe my hair doesnt like being out and maybe i move around too much in my sleep
Maybe they have simply dried out with being more exposed to the air and fabric?
