Default Hair analysis results not what I expected

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but does anyone disagree with their hair analysis results? Mine came out completely different than what I thought I was, which is ok, I can deal with that. BUT, all the suggestions it gives me are exactly the things that make my hair look its worst!

Maybe you are identifying the wrong ingredients in products as the culprits? Does the analysis consider your local weather conditions? Have you been trying products all year round or just at certain times? Have you been trying them in the recommended combination?

My results were the exact opposite of what I thought my properties were. I thought my hair must be porous from years of color and flat ironing and always thought my hair was med-coarse. I was told my hair is low porosity and fine! I was so shocked initially I thought they must have switched my hair sample or made a mistake. Once I got over the shock, I tried their recommendations.

I don't regret getting the analysis but there are some shortcomings, IMO. I have hard water and high humidity year round and I think that greatly affects my hair and which products will work for me. They recommended mousse and protein rich products which my hair really doesn't like. Also told me to stay away from rich products/heavy conditioners which my hair seems to love. I've come to believe my hair is on the medium side of fine. Learning that my hair is low porosity has helped me tremendously though. I think it explains a lot.

Bottom line is the analysis helps but we are all different in very unique situations with individual tastes (some like volume, others like definition etc). No one size fits all which makes it that more difficult for them.

I actually went to Tiffany of Live Curly Live Free for her hair care class, which included a hair analysis. By apperance Tiffany thought my hair was med porosity and med-course. But once she got her fingers in my hair, and saw how my hair responded to products..she concluded that my hair is low porosity and fine. But again you need to listen to your hair. If you like the products you are using now, then dont worry about the analysis. For me it was a god send.

This is why I would never get one of those tests. At this point I already know what my hair likes, even if the test came back that I had coarse high porosity high elasticity hair, I wouldn't start feeding my hair tons of protein and sealing it with MO. I already know where that will lead.

She did say I was medium on the finer side of the scale, I think it is close enough so I would say we are hair twins My hair really does not behave like fine textured all that much.

See I thought mine was fine and/or low porosity cuz it gets weighed down really easily, so now I'm more confused than ever

I posted in the 'waiting for results' thread too but just wanted to let you know there's a whole thread in the normal porosity board dedicated to medium/normal/normal hair. You've got lots of company and lots of good info there.

See, that's why I'm disappointed. I've tried most of those products and have gotten poor results. I can't use them

I've never had an analysis but I do find that in general my hair hates the products that are supposed to be best for my hair properties. My advice is just use what works for you and don't worry about what the "rules" are.
