Default Protein adds spring but...

I need more moisture. So recently I stopped styling my hair and just letting my mane do what god designed it to do! This mainly due to laziness. Well, a crazy thing happened. One day I ran out of my shea moisture condish that I use to use as a leave in, so I used my rinse out, the nature's gate biotin, as a leave in as well. I had the best hair day of my life, even after sleeping on my hair all night.(i take night showers) so now I have the Giovanni direct leave in and get the same result. Anyway, I'm getting all this protein, but I need more moisture! I really don't have time for lengthy processes or time consuming deep treatments. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Just do your DT overnight it doesn't take any more time, you just wash, massage in conditioner, rinse and style as normal. The only difference is you have a gap of several hours between the application and rinse stages during which time you are multi tasking with sleep! You don't have to get in the shower both times, wash your hair in a large sink or over the bath (if you have one) or stick just your head into the cubicle.

Or use leave in conditioners based on honey and/ or coconut oil and/ or avocado oil. If you use a decent one you can probably do without a daily rinse off conditioner which saves time and water and electricity (ie. money!). Or do an overnight 'pre-shampoo' on dry hair with melted coconut oil if you normally shower in the morning - since you are not using styling products you can layer up the oil and it will absorb if you give it enough hours.

Curly haircare does not necessarily have to be time consuming or complicated, it's about identifying the right ingredients and combinations of ingredients and techniques for your hair and climate. An awful lot of conditioners and deep treatments are based on ingredients that will make hair look and feel nice temporarily, but little that will penetrate or 'nourish' the hair longer term.

I found the Shea Moisture products to be too heavy, they always weighed my hair down. It may just be using something lighter that has helped. Also, the new GDLI doesn't contain protein, your properties aren't listed but any condish can be used as a leave-in. GVP CB is very moisturizing and inexpensive, but really any non-protein condish you have on hand would be worth trying. If your hair's really dry you could even try using a small amount of a DT as a leave-in. My hair loves protein, I've been using PT's as leave-ins for months with good results.

Why do you think you need more moisture? You seem to be having good hair days lately without as much moisture. Does it feel dry?

Not terribly dry, but it's not soft at all.

Hmm. have you tried Tresseme naturals as an RO? Really popular around here. It's moisturizing but not as heavy as SM stuff. I find it does the job without weighing me down, which it seems like you might have been since you had great days after you ran out of SM.

I have tried the tresemme naturals, yes. It worked for a couple days then my hair kept getting tangly. I have a bottle of it in my boyfriends shower that I use when I shower over there. Since I use it more rarely now, it makes my hair soft, I just can't use it all the time.
