Default I give up

It seems like my hair gets worst by the day. There's instant frizz as soon as I'm done putting my products on my hair. Which are kin curly knot today, smoothie Shea moisture and a little bit of gel. As soon as I'm done I see the frizz also my curl has all these hairs sticking out of them. Like my cuticles are all open. Ahhh I'm just so frustrated. I've been doing the CG method for a year now. I did the cut I stopped the heat, the shampoo, the silicones

You don't list you properties or what gel you're using so I can only say that for me glycerin and not enough protein cause frizz. If you're not using glycerin in your styler it may be your protein -moisture balance is off.

What are your hair properties and humidity/ dew point? You are getting frizz even whilst you still have dripping wet hair?

- Knot Today: a detangler not a true conditioner, do you not use a product containing fatty alcohols and cationic surfactants? These smoothe the hair, hold moisture, help clumping
- Shea Moisture smoothie: a sealant since many of the ingredients won't penetrate, heavy butters can build up so do you need to clarify?
- Gel: why only a little? Gel helps stick the clumps together
- What are you cleansing and deep conditioning with? Are you doing any protein treatments?

Oh no, don't give up. You should list your other products. Hair that frizzes when it's still wet can be cause by build up, so it might help to do a shampoo to clarify. Knot today isn't a very moisturizing leave in conditioner, so it might be worth using something heavier. Also, do you have hard water? I use to, and sometimes it would make my hair sort of ick and wet-frizzy.

Yes I do proteins treatment at least twice a month . I believe my hair is low por...3b curls. I do shampoo with a sulfate free shampoo which is the Shea moisture shampoo, and I use herbal essence conditioner the blue bottle lol I forgot the name. Yes my hair is frizzy while its wet too so that's how I know my hair will be a mess during the day. I use a little bit of gel because I honestly don't believe my hair likes gel.

Is it the hello hydration condish? I think most of the HE ones have cones- you might want to use a poo with some heavier surfactants to get it out (the Shea moisture poo won't remove silicones). Sounds like build up based on your observation that it frizzies as soon as u put product in.

Here are the ingredients from the hello hydration- silicone is #5 on the list.

Water, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Cetyl Alcohol, Bis Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Orchis Mascula Flower Extract, Zea Mays (Corn) Silk Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Extract, Fragrance, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Blue 1

So you are modified not full CG? That doesn't really sound like a hydrating routine, frizz can come from build up, lack of hydration, wrong products. My hair is porous and damaged, I still get clumps when my hair is sopping and plenty of leave in ... unless I have recently coloured or protein treated (both dry hair out).

Even sulphate free shampoos can strip or dry hair out or change the charge so it frizzes, so they can need plenty of conditioning. You are then using a detangler instead of a proper leave in conditioner, plus protein treating twice a month which can be drying if overused, and gel which again can sometimes be drying.

Maybe consider conditioner-only washing (try a couple of products, one more cleansing one more hydrating), switching in a rich leave in with proper emollients/ moisturising ingredients, dropping the protein for a month or two. If your hair does not like regular gel try a curl cream, making an Ecostyler custard (see YouTube) or a gel with a humectant base like Curl Keeper or flaxseed gel.

Okay yeah I use a conditioner with silicone so I do always rinse it all out. Maybe I should look for a silicone free conditioner. Thanks for the advice everyone ill give it a try and see how my hair reacts.

Exactly- since you're not using sulfates the silicones just build up because they never get washed out (they're not soluble in water, so they won't rinse out either- they bond to your hair). Even if you change to a cone free condish, you'll need to use a heavy cleanser with surfactants to get the silicone build up out in order to "restart". Let us know how it goes! You said you've been silicone free though in your OP, so I figured you didn't realize they were in there.

I give up-imageuploadedbycurltalk1368743503.908476.jpg This is right after a wash with suave waterfall mist shampoo and conditioner and detangle with kckt.

I give up-imageuploadedbycurltalk1368743585.840076.jpg This is the same part after putting giovanni direct leave in, curl creme brule, and goddess curls gel.

I give up-imageuploadedbycurltalk1368743663.204376.jpgI give up-imageuploadedbycurltalk1368743672.953757.jpg A picture of my whole hair while products are in..

I do not towel dry my hair nor do I use a comb for detangle. So why does my hair stick out everywhere like this.

You don't sound like you are following CG that closely at all. Full CG is ideally co-washing, no silicones, detangle in the shower when sopping wet with conditioner still on, leave some conditioner in, no detangling once you come out, just smooth your products on or scrunch them in.

Also your hair does not look sopping wet in that first photograph, try applying your products to dripping wet hair, there are some videos on YouTube from Devachan or Jessicurl that you could watch. Maybe re-read the CG book and try the system exactly as it is laid out there.

CG isn't for everybody. How was your hair before you were starting the CG method?

That's the thing, though- I think she thought she was CG, but only cut out the sulfates and not the silicones.

It's totally fine to use whatever products you want to; I still use a few products with silicones sparingly in my rotation, but always use a shampoo in the next day or two to remove the cones.

As far as your pics, OP, I don't see what you're talking about, lol. You reset by using a sulfate shampoo, so if you cut out using the silicone conditioner from now on, I would think you will see some improvement. Or, if you like the cone condish, try to find a sulfate free shampoo with coco betaine which is a more gentle surfactant and will prevent them from building up again. Deva low poo or Yes to Cucumbers shampoo would work.

Some easily available ones are tresemme "naturals", Shea moisture (all), suave naturals, GVP conditioning balm (at Sally's). HTH!
