Question Help! Ahh! Gross hair today!

So on Wednesday night I did a DT and this morning I did a PT, followed by some new products. I used the GVP Re-constructor from Sally Beauty Supply. The new products were SheaMosture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk followed by the SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Souffle.

My hair turned out disgusting. I don't know if it was the new products or the PT. This is the first time I have used a PT. My hair feels very sticky and gunky, kinda oily and looks like I haven't cleaned it in a month. My curls are kinda non-existent and I just have waves. Is this due to the PT or the products? My hair doesn't feel dry or anything, it's actually quite soft.

Do I have to use a sulfate shampoo to remove all this or what can I do?

Bummer! I think you should just start over tomorrow with a cowash or low poo, as you shouldn't need a sulfate poo to remove anything you've done. I haven't tried the souffle so I can't comment on that, but the smoothis made my hair feel like that; heavy and geasy, but soft at the same time. I do love some of the other SM products, though.

From my experience, that sounds like you might have used too much soufflé. A little goes a long way for me and it can easily get sticky/oily/gross for me when I use too much.

I always PT first - then DT. Without doing a DT after my hair is awful! Like limp straw :P could be the reason....???

Well that's reassuring that it may not have been the PT.

What's the best method for getting this out? Do I have to use sulfates? Or a shampoo w/o sulfates? Or would just my conditioner washing work?

For me cowashing or sulfate free shampoo was enough to get out too much of the SM so I'd try that first. And I agree DT after PT works best for me too

Definitely try only making one change at a time if you can. A deep treatment before a protein treatment may well just block out the protein. Agree it sounds like you used too much souffle, should come out fine your next regular conditioner wash, just use more product than usual, repeat if your hair does not feel clean.

I have similar hair properties. I find the SM Orange & Hibiscus products too heavy for my hair. It just sits. I got seduced into buying the Souffle because of all the discussions on here--put it off for months, but finally succumbed. Used it for the first time yesterday with CK Curlycue ReNew (which works really well with KCCC.) My hair looked good, but didn't feel soft and unproducty as usual. Will have to play around a bit.

The feel reminded me of the original BS Magic Curls Puree. Really tight curls, but it felt odd. (doesn't happen with the new formula.) I'm thinking it's the sugar!

Funny this is exactly what my hair is like today after doing a pt followed by the souffle, but I use the souffle every day without issue. Of course it had to happen on a day where I want to look nice for a party too. I'm hoping myself an hour for ky hair to settle while I hope for a miracle, otherwise I'm jumping back in the shower.
