Default Wavy change?

Hey Curlies, long time no post.

So I've been CG since 2009, and naturally, without product, my hair has always been 2a-2b range, with some coarse hairs thrown in. Since the weather has warmed up however, I've been noticing a lot more "frizz" going on, even after hot oil treatments.

I decided to take a closer look today, and realized that all of the hair that is frizzing up is actually hair that is just curlier than the rest of my hair, 3a and 3b, that is poking out the canopy. This has NOT happened in previous summers.

Has anyone else had this happen to them before? Where part of their hair has changed and other parts remained the same? Did it grow into a more common texture over time?

Honestly I would love for my hair to naturally be 3a/3b without product, and I'm hoping this is new hair that has grown in, and the straighter hair is old hair that will eventually fall out and the new growth will be curlier. I have not seen these hairs fall out in the shower, and the majority where these hairs are, is down my natural part and crown.

Sounds like new growth to me. Your curls can definitely change over time; things like hormones, medications, aging, pregnancy, medical conditions, etc.

About 5yrs ago I noticed that one spot in the back of my head had developed very strong waves (2b, probably). The rest of my hair was still pretty much straight. I actually bought a straightening iron at one point, but while on a date with my now husband it started raining. I didn't want to have to worry about my hair getting wavy again when it rained, so I looked into how I could encourage the wave and became CG.

Now my hair is 2b-2c on the sides, and the back of my hair, which started out as a section about 1.5" wide, is officially 3a and about 4" wide.

I really don't think that it's all related to being CG, though, because bringing out the curl in the back of my head is now almost effortless, whereas I definitely had to encourage them even just 6mos ago. I'm chalking it up to hormones, so I'm hoping that it continues to spread around to the front. I suppose since it took 5yrs to go from 1.5 to 4 inches, though, I'll just have to be patient!
