My .02 is if you are this in the fence I'd choose an amount of time you are willing to spend regrowing and get no more than that off. Willing to get back to this in 6 months? 3 inches. A year? 6 inches. That way it won't be a huge deal if you aren't that fond if it. Other than drying time I've not found a great upside to short hair. It sometimes needs even more attention to make it do things. That's why i've been growing mine for a year and a half. Though I do wonder if what I've learned about Cg would make me like my short short hair better. Mostly I did it because I didn't ever know what to do with my hair.

just looked at that old post (it's page 82,btw) and your hair is beautiful. i think it would look good at any length. the trouble with a faux bob is while it shows how that length looks on you, it does not show how your curls would be. there might be more curls framing your face, giving volume around your face. but the length has to work first.
when i think of faux bobs, i think of the womens' hair in downton abbey, which i love!! (i've not gotten to season 3 yet, but i am guessing some will have cut their hair. don't tell me!!) :-)

Love your hair, I know that doesn't help you make your decision lol, but I think it looks great.

HG: currently
just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.

I'm also considering a cut. I get bored really easy lol and this SFL heat doesn't help. My hair grows pretty quick so I don't mind cutting it. I say go with what will make you happy. One thing I always consider when cutting my hair is enough length to tie my hair back. Most of my days I have it in a bun. Right now I have it close to my waist so I'm thinking for my birthday cutting it to my shoulder. Can't wait

Just because I love being an enabler... I can still pull my hair back, even at not quite chin length. I end up with some fringe in back, but that's about it When I first got it cut, my ponytail actually resembled a Pom-Pom.

Jas, I posted couple months ago craving for a cut, Everybody suggested that I go Mid length, so I did and posted picture. It worked out great.

Last week, I craved a shorter hairstyle and did a self cut, Now it touches shoulders! My hair feels so voluminous and curly and am really liking short hair, Every single person at my work complimented!!

So with that I conclude saying that one should definitely different lengths from long to short!

Ok. So today I finally had time to PT/DT. I haven't gotten to Sally's yet to pick up a clarifying treatment, but I'm hoping to really soon, and hoping it helps even more.

Curls are better today. It's a little... droopy, but that's the cut, not the curls today!

So I'm feeling a little more confident on my decision to get my cut touched up before deciding to make a chop. And the chop - I'd probably start with 4-6 inches and then see how that feels. My friend cut hers short after always having long hair. She did 3 inches, then went back and did 2 more. Then her next cut she went a little shorter. I figure I can always cut more off, right?

Thanks for the advice!!

IMO, at the end of the day it's your hair and you don't want to NOT do something because of what everyone else thinks. I can understand the worry because it is the unknown since you've had long hair most of your life. I think you should start with a not so drastic cut and see how you feel from there.
