sally beauty

I've discovered I have a Sally Beauty nearby! I've heard it mentioned on here I believe....what are your fave curly girl products from there?

Curlsnswirls 05-20-2013 12:07 PM

:love3: GVP conditioning balm (biolage knock-off)
Biotera gel
Salon care honey almond conditioner
Ecostyler gel (haven't used this in a while)
I've heard good things about GVP liquid sculpting gel (Sebastian Wet knock off) , but haven't tried it yet.

Depends on your properties (I'm on the app, so I can't see signatures). If your hair likes protein, ION Effective Care can be used as a RO or a PT. Another option is Colorful Neutral Protein Filler, which can be added to other products for a protein boost. If you're looking for protein-free, GVP Conditioning Balm is very popular and can be easily doctored into a DT with some oils. In term of styling products, I love Biotera Gel. There was recently some very positive reviews on the Volumax gels as well. And you can get As I Am products there.

GVP CB

Corrina777 05-20-2013 12:10 PM

Ooh and the GVP Liquid Sculpting Gel is one of my newer favorites (good amount of protein, no glycerin).

chloe92us 05-20-2013 12:21 PM

Corrina got me hooked on the GVP liquid sculpting gel- love it! I also have the GVP conditioning balm which is a good strong condish. I usually only use it for deep treatments. I also us the Joico Reconstructor, and GVP has a generic version which I will probably try as well to see if it's the same. My next purchase is the Biotera gel.

mell_152 05-20-2013 12:29 PM

wow, there's a lot of GVP products on the website...they're great prices too :) i'm going to have to check out the store!

Jas76 05-20-2013 12:40 PM

For me, GVPCB, ion effective care condish, GVP k-pak, Colorful Neutral Protein Filler...

About to buy Ion Swimmers treatment (just as a clarifier - I don't really swim much!), GVPLSG.... Thought there was something, too...

I have also bought different hair clips from there for clipping my roots, and hair cutting scissors, etc.

Love Sally's!

How would you compare the biotera gel to the GVP liquid sculpting gel as far has hold?

Corrina777 05-20-2013 12:59 PM

I would consider them similar in hold. Biotera might be a slightly stronger hold, but I might just think that because it's a slightly different consistency. The Biotera Gel is still a thin gel, but is noticeably thicker than Liquid Sculpting Gel.

New_to_Curlz 05-20-2013 02:22 PM

I really like the volumax mega hold!

Hair one either with argon oil for curly hair or jojoba oil. It's a great product, a knock off of wen. It is a poo and conditioner, cg and just really good and cheaper than wen of course. I buy the 33 ounces which is nice.

Is it a hard hold gel or medium? I like biotera but find its not quite enough hold.

The Mega is hard hold, no glycerin or polyquats but some protein. There's a Volumax styling gel too that's supposed to be medium hold, I haven't tried that one cause it has a polyquats and no protein. The Mega is great though, leaves my hair shiny too.

I believe Hair One has a-cone, which makes it not CG. However many curlies can use products with a-cone and not have problems.
