What does your hair look like without scrunching and without styling products?

Like Tree21Likes

Hi curlies!

I'm mostly a 2c whenever I do my routine (scrunching gel in upside down, diffusing for 5 minutes, airdrying for 4+ hours).

I sometimes still feel like a fake wavy (yes I have already read the wavy imposter thread ) because when I go for a swim, I usually shower at the swimming pool, upright. Afterwards I don't scrunch, I don't do anything upside down and I don't put any styling product in and I go home.
At that time, my hair will look like a 2a or something like that... (it will definitely not look straight and it will look poofy and messy).

When I get home, I would typically be rewetting my hair a bit, upside down and do the styling part of my routine. Afterwards I will typically be 2c again.

What does your hair look like when you don't do anything upside down, don't scrunch and don't use styling products in comparison to your "normal" hair days?
Same here! As you can see, the curl pattern in the front isn't as strong as it is in the back, but this is basically what my hair looks like without doing anything (although back when these photos were taken, it was how my hair looked like after styling!):

And this is how it looks now with styling:

My hair still looks 3C. You can't really scrunch in tightly coiled hair. I think once you get to 3B-4 you either are or not.

Without products my hair just looks a lot fluffier and less uniform. It just doesn't look as neat. Also, without a leave-in my hair will feel dry by the next day.
sometimes I'm a bit jealous of 3Bs and up.
Not because I think they have less work with their hair or so, but just because I think that their hair looks more uniform every day. My hair can be really curly one day (3a is really curly in my opinion ) and only slightly wavy another day... which I definitely don't like.
I like knowing what to expect and I like being 2b-2c (more to the 2c side) every day (which mostly happens, but not always, sometimes curlies sometimes less curly)

I'm jealous too. I wish I had a stronger and more consistent curl pattern. However, I'm grateful I have hair! Baldness runs in my family - women too.

My hair without scrunching and styling products looks totally messy. I never go without some sort of styling routine.
2/c and some 3A.
Protein sensitive but can use occasionally
Highly porous. Color over grey.
Best 1st day method: Super Soaker
Stylers: Mix Curls in a Bottle into everything for shine. Terrible pj
Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
I have (what I guess would be) a small portion of 2b framing my face, 2c in other places, and 3a in the back that turns into 3b when my hair gets long. So, what does my hair look like without product or scrunching? Crazy. The only time I have uniform curl is when my hair is all one length, and long. Other than the small layer framing my face, it is naturally coarse. W/O Li & product it is crunchy, frizzy, and a grab bag of patterns.

My entire head is rather moldable, though. I can not straighten it without a flat iron, but I can get out of the shower, wrap it in a bun, and end up with more wave than curl.
When I hear terms like "hipster" I think, who told cliques they could leave high school??

I can also range from 2A to 2C. With no products, I'm definitely a very frizzy 2A/barely 2B. At its best with products, my curl doesn't start until around eye level, but I have areas of 2B, 2C, and a bunch of 3B hidden underneath in the back.

My daughter has gorgeous auburn uniform 3B hair. Sigh.

Katmack, your hair still looks nice without scrunching and styling.
Without scrunching or styling I HAVE to brush my hair, otherwise it looks like "right out of bed haven't combed in a millennium "

Sometimes I wish I had either naturally straight hair (but when I was still wearing my hair straight aka flat ironed most of the times it looked like I had been stuck in a tornado) or either really curls... just so my hair would look more or less the same every day.
Aw thanks. I'm finally starting to accept that it looks okay like that. I usually put it up if its just barely wavy. I always want mine as curly as possible, but some times that doesn't work out well so I just get it wet and walk away from it so I'm not temped to hack all my hair off short again. Lol I am always jealous of my fiance's really tight ringlet curls so I forget how versatile my hair actually is.

Without product I'm a 2C, VERY big hair, with some scattered 3A ringlets. I do a naked hair test every other month because as my hair has gotten healthier the pattern has tightened and I think it's very cool to see. With product, some leave in and a gelly, I'm mostly 3A. The big difference isn't so much the curl pattern to me but the size of my hair. It looks so much neater and well flatter with product when I just leave it be as it dries.

I think product just clumps my curls together. Without product it's ever strand for itself!!! LoL!

That's exactly what it is like BlackAngelPlayah!
Without product it's every strand itself, and with my wavy hair, every strand for itself just seems BIG (as mentioned before) and frizzy and messy and barely wavy (I guess it probably is the same wavyness but just hidden under frizz and big-ness)

In Dutch (don't know if it exists in English as well) we have this proverb, literally translated as "I'm not able to see the trees through the forest anymore" and that seems to apply to my productless and techniqueless hair as well..
Without product or without technique (scrunching and plopping or diffusing) I am not really able anymore to see the waves (and the couple of spirals that I have as well) through the frizz and the volume
A big frizzy mess is what mine looks like!

I haven't seen my hair with no product in years. But way back when, when I lived in a climate that was more humid than SoCal and I had long hair worn natural with no product, it was very big and my curls no little definition - kind of a big wavy bush.

Offtopic:
with dews... as it is rather cold here (compared to other countries I mean) for a large amount of the year (I'm still wearing most of my winter things), is it possible that the perfect dews of "40-60" are already too high for my hair?
My hair seemed to be better in winter (less frizzy) when dews were around 30. Is it possible that for me 30 is a better dew than 40-60 since my hair is more used to 30 than to 40-60?
