And even if you feel like your hair doesn't look amazing or is frizzy, I'll bet you're still paid compliments.
It's true! I felt like a I had a pretty "off" day with my hair and with myself in general...I've been sick for ages and look pretty unhealthy now--my coloring is all off, I'm slightly gaunt, etc. But...Mr. Dreamboat Barista at the coffee shop told me my hair was beautiful today. It was sweet.
I had a similar experience my first week of CG. I was just getting over a terrible stomach flu in which I hadn't been able to eat anything other than saltines for days so I looked a wreck. Skinny and pale and just ick. So it didn't seem like the most opportune time to make a radical change and go curly. But I got compliments that very first week when I was still recovering. I wish I'd received them from Dreamboat Barista though. Mostly it was family and friends.

Almost forgot to post today. Sundays are usually no gel days for me because I'm in two church choirs and sing down on the altar for the first Mass- I want to make sure my hair is dry by the time I need to sing. Tried a honey shampoo recipe that I saw on WHC the other day. Hated it. Followed with Eden Body Works Co-Wash and ROO for RO (rinsed completely). SS ProteinTreatment for LI, sealed with a bit of Argan oil, then used MoroccanOil Curl Control Mousse. Plop, air dry. This is several hours later, including 50 minutes in a very warm choir loft and over an hour of driving in hair pulling obnoxious traffic.

Okay, all cards on the table. I was gonna prepoo/DT and wash my hair last night after my workout but I. . . didn't. And I've been up for nearly two hours so I should've already DT'd, washed and showered by now to make up for that but I. . .haven't. Ugh so lazy. I haven't bothered to refresh either and I'm still in my jammies. But you know what, it's Sunday morning, we're being honest, so this is my third day messy/wavy hair because I am too damned lazy and my coffee isn't seeming to do anything.

Missed yesterday running around and went to visit an old friend.
So today is day 6. Second day hair, took it out of the pineapple this morning and have fine nothing lol. It's Sunday. I don't usually do anything to it. Yesterday I co washed as usual with as I am coconut Ro with tresseme naturals leave in cantu Shea butter. I tried a batch of okra gel and slathered that on and topped with gvplsg and a little hesmu. I wanted to make sure it held up so I didn't have horrible hair for my visit. It was pretty windy so I did have some frizz but nothing major was a fairly good day 7 of 10. Actually looks pretty nice today considering I haven't touched it or refreshed. Kinda dull with looser curl than I like but not bad. 7 of 10 for second day hair

Anyone have an idea what I can add to okra and FSG for shine??

Honestly, Laura, you have gorgeous Disney Princess hair so that means a lot. Thanks!

Rytoka, there are lots of things you can add to FSG for shine. I add a tsp of vitamin e oil, a tsp of AVG (the natural kind that needs to be refrigerated), a tsp of marshmallow root when I boil, a cup of chamomile tea and a cup of horsetail tea. Man I need to make some FSG. If I ever wake up maybe I will. And maybe I'll go search for some frozen okra.

[Yesterday: Forgot to take a picture. Ran sesame oil through damp hair and braided my hair up, then stuffed it under a hat. Came home and went to bed, didn't style it at all].

Day 6:

Dewpoint: 8
Weather: 14oC, 66% Humidity

Co-wash: Aubrey Organics Blue Camomile Conditioner
Condish: Aubrey Organics Protein Balancing Conditioner
Leave-In: None
Style: Scrunch in KCCC (finally arrived!) in a supersoaker/scrunch-and-pump method. Plop for 15 minutes, then clip (cross-clipping and regular, root-lifting clipping). Let air dry, but SOTC'd too early again. I'm just not patient enough!

Overall: I'm happy with the results of the KCCC! I bet it would've been so much better if I had waited another hour to scrunch it out.

Ok, Day 6 & 7- Bad hair day alert, lol! My inlaws are in town from Canada and rented a condo on the beach. Needless to say we've been there every day, swimming in the pool and at the beach. I have done NOTHING to my hair all weekend- didn't have any products there, and have worn it in my nubby ponytail for most of the time. This is what my hair looked liked ALL the time before I found this site.

Day 6 was a pony tail day and today ended up in a pony tail too because we were working in the yard. I did snap a quick pic before I put it up.
Washed and conditioned with SM MR then supersoaked some KCCC. Used a little Volumax Mega and diffused for a couple minutes.

I guess this makes today Day 7. Here are all my days 1-5 because I don't have the ponytail pic.

Default Day 7

Oops. I didn't take a picture today. I was kind of sick this morning and didn't leave the house, so I didn't do anything to my hair. Then I was feeling better and went out to work in the yard, but didn't take a picture of the twigs and leaves in my hair before I took a shower and washed it all out.

Another decent hair day...hair got a little out of control as the day progresses (kept getting in my face) but was pretty decent regardless...I used the suggestions on my technique to kinda of tweak what I do

1) co-washed with tresemme naturals
2) applied LI (biolage conditioning balm)- raked in upside down
3) right side up raked in HESMU and then scrunched in sections
4) plopped for 10 mins or so

Not too shabby but tomorrow going to try to rake products in upside down and plop instead of scrunching...definitely prefer the HESMU to the deva ultra defining gel right now but gotta figure that one out a bit more I think. Anyway here are my pictures...this 7 day challenge was fun definitely got me to try more products and pay attention to technique and figure out better ways of styling my hair

Day 5
Today I finger detangled in the shower as usual. But unlike usual I put my hair in 10 chunky twist (5 on each side of my head) I am looking for a way to reduce tangles since my ends have been tangling a lot lately.
Products used
7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370875134.059944.jpg
And a bit of EVOO

And i put on a bandana just because
7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370875231.728431.jpg

I am going to try to keep my hair like this all week. I will spritz nightly and retwist with Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and EVOO
If I have places to go I will wear a twist-out and twist again upon returning home.
Daily I will so the same thing I did this morning.
If you are wondering about my sparse hairline, I was born that way and explain it in a thread with pictures etc. awhile back :-)

I have to say I think this thread was an awesome idea. I think it was great to see what we all considered our less than fabulous days, and it was nice to learn how much we really are our own worst critics.

Day 7: this was fun! Really showed me how hard I am on myself! That being said I am not pleased today lol I am giving today a 5. Co wash as I am RO ology something a friend gave it to me . Smells nice and has some protein. Cantu Shea for leave in. Made a new batch of FSG and topped with gvplsg. My part came out really odd today and my hair keeps falling in my face. It will be up soon, plus we are looking at high 90's today. My FSG came out really thick and I had a hard time getting it to distribute. So its kinda stringy and not clumping. Might try to whisk in some if the lsg to loosen it up tonight. Happy Monday curlies. I might do another 7 if I can get the okra gel to work. The batch I made last night didn't come out. Bug globs of xantham gum. Will try to strain them out

Ooo sorry about that. I have been accused of talking like a thesaurus. One time this stranger who was shopping alone asked my opinion on a blouse and I'm all like, "I don't know. Seems a little blase." And she's all, "what does that mean?" So I said, "It just seems a little lackluster is all. I think with your coloring you'd look good in punchier colors." So we're walking away and then my friend whispers in my ear, "She asks you to define blase and you reply with lackluster?" Cue my chagrin! Although to be fair to me, I'm sure most women know what blase and lackluster mean. Especially you guys. This is a website about hair. We're all aesthetically educated.

Yes, I know! I love real curly hair. There's so much variety. Even if you're the same curl "type". Doesn't matter. No two heads are identical. Everyone's hair looks so healthy on this thread. Even the girl who just started CG. You can seriously see the curls and clumps plumping up day by day!
