SOTC too early b/c I had a meeting but pretty happy with the results. This gel was surprisingly easy to SOTC, and didn't leave my hair "too soft" after scrunching like BRHG tends to.

First of all - gorgeous! The color and curls are fantastic.
What do you mean by "too soft". I find BRHG leaves my hair very soft, which feels absolutely wonderful, but my curls/waves definitely feel less boingy. Is that what you mean? It never occurred to me that other gels might leave a different feel.

Everyone's hair looks fantastic!!

Round 2, Day 2. Today's routine was similar to yesterday's. Co-wash with VO5 Vanilla Mint Tea, used Mop Top Daily Conditioner, left about half in. Applied CJ CCCC and combed to distribute, followed by GVP LSG. Plop, air dry.

Yes! Like it goes fluffy and limp after I SOTC. However, last week I used BRHG and it DID hold all day, so I get mixed results. The only other gel I have this problem with is Joico JoiGel firm. Rock hard, then soft and floppy after SOTC. I gave it away.

I require a "soft feel" but the clumps have to stay together all day, if that makes sense.

With other gels like LA Looks sport gel, or GVP liquid sculpting gel, or this new Volumax mega gel- they all respond the same each time and hold the curls together all day without looking floppy and mushy and frizzy.

And, BTW, my color will be drastically changing over the next year as I've decided to let my gray come in and stop dyeing. I'm about 40% gray!

Cool, LA Looks is on my list to try next after I use up the BRHG.

Welcome to the gray side I'll be interested to see how it comes in.

You guys, this is a GREAT thread!! I'd love to get in on it, but I haven't had time. And unfortunately I won't have time for another 2-3 weeks! If this is still going after that, maybe I'll give it a go!

Lol everyones on round 2 week 2 i'm still on my first week =P
Day 6
Products used:
Shea Moisture : Thickening Moisture Mist.

So I had to pick my little sister up from summer school, I took down my twist from yesterday and used the mist to refresh and I shook out my hair a bit.
7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370974986.216014.jpg
My hair has never held a twist out before so i am very pleased with the results.
I retwisted my hair again in 10 twist. (5 on each side) when I returned home.

Yesterday would have been day 8 and I had my hair up all day. I snapped a picture because I thought it was amazing how straight the top layers are after being up all day. Goes to show how much difference products make

I think I may "take the challenge" again in a few months when I've been CG for longer. I did find it challenging to post a picture regardless of how my hair looked every day, and it probably was good for me, character-building and all that. But I haven't learned yet what works (if anything!) and every day feels like a bad hair day. It's a little demoralizing to post a picture on top of it.

Yesterday: Day 1 - Washed with Curl Junkie Daily Fix, Conditioned with - Darcy's Botanicals Pumpkin Seed conditioner. Leave in Elucence Moisture Balancing Conditioner. raked in upside down while sopping wet. Added Curl Keeper over that, plopped and air dried. I diffused just a little bit at the end. This was the best it looked all day. hot mess by the end of the day.

Today was day 2 - but it felt gross this morning and looked even worse. I had it pulled back but decided to rewet it this afternoon and try something.. will post pics of that later.

Thanks so much for saying that. It's just so humid here, and I think my hair is getting bigger and bigger Every DAY!! I think it's the humidity-frizz that led me to look for a solution and find CG, but it just makes it that much more difficult to figure out.

If you're having major frizz troubles, experiment with a gel, like LA Looks sport gel- it's cheap So won't set you back if it doesn't work. Once it dries it will be crunchy but just scrunch out the crunch.

I absolutely HAVE to use a gel on top of whatever else I'm using to combat frizz. Good luck in your CG journey!

Day 2 - HAha would definitely NOT put these up for all to see if it wasn't for this challenge! It was looking rough this morning so I kept it back like in the photo..running the kids around. I had some time to play so I rewetted it fully and scrubbed a little with just water. added some pumpkin seed conditioner and CC. I didnt scrunch much or plop very long - thought I'd touch it minimally. Well that didnt last very long. I have a very hard time not touching until it is dry - it takes forever to dry and it drives me nuts having it wet and hanging in my face. I diffused it a little bit and it was evident pretty quickly that it was a hot mess. It feels better than it did before I rewet it - so that is a plus. Fortunately I was home for the evening.. I'll try again tomorrow. I am going to start the morning with a coconut oil treatment.

Round 2 Day 1: Another decent hair day...Upside down raked in KCKT and KCCC plopped for 20 mins or so and then scrunch out excess water....very little frizz but also less volume Going for my first ever Devacut tomorrow morning and they want my hair dry so I guess I'm going for kind of second day hair. Also, this is after working for 6 hours in a really hot store so I'm pretty proud of how well it held up
