7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?

Today I washed with ytcucs. Conditioned with aia something. Then I squeezed water out and put it up in a towel turban the old fashioned way.. I just used flour sack towels instead of terry cloth. I used more of the conditioner emulsified on my hands...raked it though sections of hair. Then a bit of kccc on my ends. My hair feels soft but I think the gvp gave me more shine. I got more volume..not sure I miss the lack of clumps. I know I need more gel though.. Having a hard time picking a good one. I really want more horizontal volume in the back. Having a hard time getting my stylist on board with that. My hair underneath is nearly straight and already looks stringy. Not sure how it would look with even less hair covering it up. Maybe I'll perm it! want to look like shakira. Haha

Okay, I'm in. Yesterday was a washing day, so I start there

Yesterday I made a mix from 1tsp baking soda, 1 tbsp conditioner and 200 ml water and washed my hair and scalp with this. Then I did an acv-rinse, let it sit for 2 min. Then dissolved half a tsp KCKT in a cup of water and poored this over my hair (not my scalp) to detangle and moisturize. I didn't rinse.

I scrunched a nailtip of coconut oil in my ends and on my lengths to seal the moisture in. I scrunched some more to get excess water out and plopped for 15 minutes (a bit longer than planned).
Then I raked and scrunched gel in (Taft eXtreme Power gel, the clear one, for Eurocurlies), bit by bit, from roots to tips. Plopped again for 15 minutes. Scrunched in 3 tiny drops of BRHG, with moist hands, and pixiediffused till 85% dry. Then let airdry the rest of the day.

Allthough it took quite a while for my hair to get dry (rainy weather and all), the gelcurls were fine and volumous from the roots down so I didn't mind the gel cast and just left it the rest of the day. In the evening I SOTC with a tiny drop of AVG + 1 spritz of CJ Curl Fuel (for the crispy ends).

I pineappled for the night and this was this morning, staight out of the pineapple.:

I finally get my hair to behave again. I'm so glad.

Day 6:

Sorry, I've been busy/not feeling well for the last few days.

This is my hair today. It is okay. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. I tried several different methods over the weekend and nothing wowed me (sorry I didn't get pictures). I must have done my hair differently 6 times or so. Tried the diffuser again, and it didn't work. Also tried gel again, and that didn't work. So, this is back to the same method I do every morning, only there is jojoba oil just on my roots and ends. Also, I used a t-shirt instead of my turbie twist this morning. I would rate today a 5/10.

Day 3scalp! No dry shampoo needed. Yay. My crazy part is so bad though this was the only way to keep it covered. I braided last night and the waves looked nice... Too bad! Definitely worth trying again.

Day 7: I didn't use the comb this morning. Instead, I tried using my fingers and tilting my head to both sides and then upside down as I put the product in for more volume. Eh......I'd rate today a 4/10. I'm not that impressed. I feel like my hair is frizzier than normal and the curl definition isn't any more impressive than normal. My curls are definitely softer and bouncier today (I used the AIA LI, SMCES, Jojoba Oil, and the SM Moisture Spray. While this challenge was fun, I really didn't learn much about doing my hair. I still have good days and bad days and I can't figure out the pattern to either! I did wash my hair this morning with the Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo then I used the TN Conditioner.

Day1: 6/10

Got my hair cut a few days ago - I finally washed my hair last night and ended up with this, this morning. Much different shape than I'm used to, and my curls in front are suuuuuper short lol. It's gonna take a bit to learn how to style this cut. I was hoping I could wake up this morning with beautiful waves, but some of the curls in front were just all wonky. So I had to wet it down and diffuse. I may end up straightening for some of the time until my hair grows a bit. But it's not bad.

Ignore the sleepy face. It takes me a while to wake up :P

I owe you a Day 3, that was yesterday. Again, I put my hair up in a pineapple before going to sleep (on day2).
Day 3: Out of the pineapple, I only fluffed the roots with my fingers when my head was upside down. It was a busy day, so I just left my hair the way it was. Later in the afternoon my hair looked like this:7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-050314_3edag-480x640-.jpg

Day 4: This was my hair this morning, after I misted my hair with water+CO and perked it up with some Pattern Pusha mixed with Taft (clear) gel. Plopped for 10 min. and pixiediffused to 85% dry. Had a lunch appointment, so this is just on my way out.

Thanks gals! I ended up straightening it before my evening job... it was just frustrating me to no end. I need to find a way to pin back my super short curls so they don't keep poking my eyeballs.

Laura I can't wait to see how you like the JC stuff!

Day 1

Washed my hair with a sulphate poo (Neutral), then applied Jane Carter Solution Nutrient Replenishing conditioner. Detangled, let it sit for as long as I needed to wash myself and brush my teeth. Rinsed it out. Squeezed out the excess water with my hands, then with a cotton t-shirt. Plopped for as long as I needed to get dressed and apply eye make-up.

Took out the plop, applied three pumps of Wrap & Roll on the right side of my hair, two on the left and one upside down.

I am hugely disappointed. I had high hopes for this product because my hair gets weighed down so easily and this is something really light. Too light apparently, because it has no hold and my curls are disappearing as we speak (and they've barely been there). No product makes my hair look almost the same. I don't get any definition or enhancement from this. I'm so frustrated right now. The pictures look better than what I see in the mirror. It's fuzzy and limp, worst hair day since ages.

I'm not even going to bother with a picture today, because it's straight. And I feel like I look weird.

Although, I had an interesting thought. I may try a braid out tonight. I was planning to wash my hair in the morning anyway, so if it doesn't turn out well I have that to fall back on. If it turns out great, I'll wear it. I have places to be all day so it needs to look good. If it ends up straight, then everything failed.

Oh, Lauraimes, that's too bad! Maybe when you use the Wrap n Roll a different way you might get better results. Maybe you can put some in before you plop as well, as sort of a base and encourage your curl pattern..

For me, this was the end of Day 4, when my hair was completely dry:
7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-060314_4edagavond-449x640-.jpg

Not bad, even if I say so myself

Day 5: out of the pineapple my hair looks a bit stringy, rope-like. I probably need a wash, but today I'll be at the swimming pool for my daughter's swimming lesson...hot, moist. So I don't want to bother with my hair. (don't know if this is correct english ) This day just a simply side braid.

I have to agree with Wavydaze on your look with the JCS products, it looks really lovely. Full and airy (weightless).

For me more volume means less definition as well. But I think that's the case for most curlies. Sometimes I like more volume and don't mind the definition, other days I like a more polished look. For me that's the fun of having curly hair, it looks different every day :-D
