Day 2. To give some background, I decided last week to follow strict CG until my cruise on the 16th because I will definitely be using silicones regularly for that week. I'm also experimenting with a bunch of new products, so most days I'm just randomly trying different stuff.
Anyway, co-washed with Ouidad Curls Co-Wash and used Ouidad Balancing Rinse as RO (rinsed completely). SS Protein Treatment as LI, combed. GVP LSG, combo rake and scrunch technique. Plop about 10 minutes, scrunch out extra water with flour sack towel, spritzed on some NPF and air dried. I would say this is about average work day hair for me, though certainly not what I would consider really good hair. But I'm too rushed to diffuse or anything else during the week. So I get a combo of wanna-be curls and gravity-defying ringlets. 7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370355702.317439.jpg7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370355715.604006.jpg

Hi everyone! I'll join in even even though I have a feeling my hair is not going to be at its best this week! The first picture is from yesterday. The day before, I had done a gelatin PT. I rinsed it out with One Conditioner (which I also used as a LI) and my hair was awful. Awful! I originally thought my hair was fine, but it seems to hate protein (gelatin at least). It gets very stiff and stringy (like straw). So then yesterday I low pooed with Rainforest Moisture. It got a little better but not great. I plopped for about half an hour and then air dried. The second pic is second day hair, where all I did was spritz with lavender water. Not great either, and pretty flat, but oh well! Attachment 35825Attachment 35826

Thank you so much! I love the cut, but I've been very frustrated lately because I feel like the curly bob is much less forgiving of my often sloppy and rushed styling techniques than when my hair was BSL. It's the main reason I've barely posted pics anywhere. Your compliment seriously just made my whole day

Day 2: Frizz and poof, but I don't mind it!

Dewpoint: 8
Weather: 16oC, 89% humidity

Pineapple failed (my hair falls out of it and gets poofy!)
Detangle: Lotsa water and Aubrey Organics Blue Camomile Conditioner
Style: Giovanni LA Natural Styling Gel (Strong Hold), applied in the shower in a supersoaker/scrunch-and-pump method.
Drying: Microfibre dusting mitt and a bunch of pin curl clips to give it volume. Let it air dry for an hour, and then pixie curl diffused until it was 80% dry (I needed to leave the house!). I think the diffusing made it poofy, but I got better volume having clipped it.

Pin curl clips are just double-pronged clips! I bought two boxes of them on Amazon, and LOOOVE them! (In retrospect, I only needed the one box. Oops!). You can find them here!

Also, there's a thread on here about Deva Cross Clipping. I'm soo gonna try it tomorrow!

Day two: wash day! Co wash with as I am coconut co wash RO tresseme naturals leave in cantu Shea butter seal with GSO.
Stylers SM soufflé topped with HHSMU plopped for about 30 minutes and pixie diffused for about 10. Cross clipping on my roots and 4 hours air drying before SOTC.
Not bad maybe a 6 out of 10. The soufflé has glycerin so a little frizz but good definition. No pics of the back. Mirror is too small and I'm not that talented lol

Day 3: low poo'd with SM yucca, used the SM yucca condish and left most of it in, sealed with Jojoba. Applied okra gel to soaking hair, and topped with a dime sized glob of LALSG. Plopped for 10, diffused til 80% due to time constraints.

Dew point is 72 today. Photos taken mid-day due to being busy at work!

I love your hair!

Okay, I seriously need to try this okra gel. Would you mind explaining the actual recipe you're using when you make your own? I don't do homemade anything except my gelatin PT, so I need the Okra Gel for Dummies version.

Thanks pseudo-hair twin!! Currently, I am using BB's Mudd. I bought it on etsy. However, I have all the "ingredients" to make it myself but haven't...yet. I'm not good at DIY stuff either, as evidenced by all my failed attempts at making FSG, but I'm determined! I know it's time to replace what I have, too, because I noticed this morning it is starting to lose it's slimy, snotty consistency and feels more watery. I'll let you know as soon as I figure it out...but I might have to break down and order more from BB even though I left "neutral" feedback on her etsy page. oops.

Have you ever tried FSG? I have made several batches, and only 2 turned out half decent....but I also want to get that to work, too, since I think it works similarly but for me so far, doesn't have as much hold as the okra.

PS/ After seeing your pics on this thread, I think we're more hair twins than I originally thought! lol....maybe I have my properties a little off.

Ok day 3....

Alba Naturals Coconut low poo, SNC RO, ACV rinse which I put on before I rinsed out the SNC. SNC as LI. Blot, Plop for hour, air dry. Pretty good today, I always like the effects acv has on my hair but I try not to do it more than maybe once a week. I did have to rake my fingers through my hair a bit more than normal today which broke up a few clumps I normally have, but such is life lol. Sorry for the grainy pics... using my phone in my bad indoor light isn't ideal lol.

HG: currently
just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.

I need to try BBs okra gel but I tried her FSG and was underwhelmed. It was pure liquid consistency. Didnt do anything but make me limp & stringy. I've made FSG at home with a much better consistency & results. idk if the one I got was a bad batch or what but I've not been in a big hurry to try anything else of hers since.

I think we are pretty much hair twins. Possibly some differences due to living in different regions.

For sure- we definitely use/ like most of the same products. The only big difference I can see is I cannot use glycerin in the summer here in FL. But I LOVE CK in the winter. You've turned me on to 3 of my favorite products- CHS treatment poo, Regis OO, and GVP LSG (I wouldn't have tried any of these if not for cyber stalking you, lol!). I think I have my properties figured out, but I still can't decide if I'm more 2c or 3a! The forever annoying question!

Day 2: wet hair, smoothed in treseme naturals, scrunched in devacurl ultra defining gel, plopped for 10 mins or so while I did my makeup. This is it dry and scrunched out. A little more frizz than I like and I kinda like to stretch out my curls a bit more especially at this length but well see. Got my KCCC and KCKT in the mail today so I'm pumped to use it tomorrow! Without further adieu.

I settled on 3a because it seemed to be a fair happy medium and because it seems like around here you need to specify a curl pattern. I did a ton of research on curl pattern types and decided it really didn't matter because every system is different in how they classify patterns and some of the info is contradictory and it's no wonder it causes so many headaches for people. When I have time later I'll post what I know about 2c vs 3a because I struggled with it myself (I'm about to leave work and run to yoga and karate).

Day 2
Co-wash with VO-55 Moisture Milks passion fruit smoothie
RO: Nature's Gate biotin conditioner
Styler: Shea Moisture C & H Curl & Style Milk
Biosilk rock hard gelee

Plopped for 10 minutes
Claw clipped canopy for about five minutes, so not much root volume

CG since January and getting a regular trim today with my own products: Kinky Curly Come Clean (only because hairdresser would probably freak out if I just brought conditioner), Yes to Carrots pampering conditioner, SM C&H Curl & Style Milk, and BRHG

What I like best about going CG, is that I can touch my hair and it doesn't feel rough and it doesn't freak out. II is now long enough to flop in front of my shoulder and I'm constantly sliding my fingers over the softness.

7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370377289.368924.jpg
