Day 5

Not really liking my 2nd day hair today. I could not locate my satin sleep cap last night so I pineappled on my satin pillow. I had a lot of frizz this AM. It could have to do with pulling my covers over my head LOL.

I refreshed with a bit of conditioner water and JCNS. I'd give it a 5/10.

Day 6, just one more day to go!

Low-poo with Rainforest moisture. RO One Condition (I've been reading about people's hair not responding well to the glycerin in it and that their hair becomes more frizzy in general and I'm thinking that might be part of my frustration. Anyone else experience this?)
FSG and then plopped half an hour before air drying.

Does anyone have any advice for making the waves clump better? Should I twist strands together or something before plopping? Normally I just scrunch a lot. I really think my hair must not like gelatin because it's finally feeling much softer after Sunday's PT. I'm not too happy with how droopy it gets by the end of the day, either.

Ah well, hope everyone is enjoying the weekend! 7 Day Challenge - who's up for it?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1370703347.204241.jpg

Day 6
Routine: Re-wet my hair with the shower head. Combed with wide-tooth comb (I always forget to mention this). Applied FSG. Plopped for 35 minutes. Let it air dry.

Time of picture: 16:50 (a.k.a. a few minutes ago).
Weather: temp 67 - humidity 56% - dew 51.
Hair grade: 5/10.

I know this is not what most people would consider a bad hair day. Nor would I, but there's just something off. I applied LOTS of FSG this morning, more than usual, so that might have been too much? I don't know. Anyway, I liked it better the previous days.

I miss my long hair I think it's too short now and I struggled with styling it. It feels like I barely have anything left. It was beyond my bra strap and now it's just reaching my shoulder blades :/ That's quite a lot for just trimming the ends.

Very happy with my hair today, it's soft and light. Not to much shrinkage, not to big with just the right amount if frizz

Default Day 6

What a difference a day makes. I think this is my best day so far (day 16 of CG).

I did a coconut oil treatment and slept on it last night. I washed it out this morning with Suave Naturals, and conditioned with DC One C. I used Carol's Daughter Hair Milk leave-in and tried KCCC for the first time. These pics are when it's still a little wet, but it's got more spirals than the last few days, and it feels really soft. Hooray!

Day 6. Was contemplating attempting conditioner only styling, but hesitated because of the possibility of running into my ex later tonight. Eden Body Works Co-Wash, SS Caitlin's Conditioner (rinsed out completely). Used a generous amount of SS Protein Treatment as LI and topped with CJ PP gel. Air dried. Went shopping. Just got home. Very spiral-y today.

Forgot to take a picture yesterday! Just had it up in a bun, though, anyway.

Today is a happier curl day. Still not great...I think I'm still recovering from the PT I did. Don't think my hair much likes protein.

Here's today:

Everyone's hair looks amazing. Even if your hair feels "off", ladies, please don't be down on it. I was out all day and noticed that the ladies of naturally curly, especially in this thread and ESPECIALLY when they're proclaiming a bad hair day, have hair that's prettier than maybe 90% of the people out there because we know what to do with it. And even if you feel like your hair doesn't look amazing or is frizzy, I'll bet you're still paid compliments.

So 6th day, second day hair. Refreshed with SM Curl & Style Milk and a bit of Pattern Pusha. Gonna go work out and mess this baby up. I think I'll low poo tonight since it's been well over a week.

It's true! I felt like a I had a pretty "off" day with my hair and with myself in general...I've been sick for ages and look pretty unhealthy now--my coloring is all off, I'm slightly gaunt, etc. But...Mr. Dreamboat Barista at the coffee shop told me my hair was beautiful today. It was sweet.

Day 7....

I am pleased to say that after a couple days of less than good hair it was what I consider to be fairly good today again. The frizz was lower, there was more curl definition (though it was messed up in places from a weird plop) and it clumped better for the most part. Still not a great hair day, but considering I didn't have to change my routine yet I will take it! As I said, I had some weird curls going on in the front, perhaps from being bent oddly in a plop (I have noticed the very front curls sometimes change curl direction mid curl) so rather than fiddle with it all day because it bothered me I just clipped some back which keeps it off my face anyway. So today I did the same things, alba low poo, SNC as RO and LI, but I tried not to rake it as much or touch it in general. I am glad we did this challenge. As many of you pointed out even my "bad" hair days look better than what I was accepting before I went natural.

HG: currently
just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.

Day 6! Altogether decent hair day. Worked all day and hair was a poofy wreck but I know that that's from applying stylets on too dry hair. After work I showered cowashed with tresemme naturals used an olive oil conditioner I'm trying to use up and wrapped my head in a microfiber towel. I've realized the time it takes for me to walk from my bathroom to bedroom is enough time in a towel. I then did what I did yesterday again with the KCKT and KCCC. I also realized that I don't need to and shouldn't SOTC. First pic is from after work the rest are once my hair dried. The last is a close up of the back of my head.

I want to find a technique that gets this sort of look but with more curl at the root (I usually have root curl but the combing/brushing get rid of a lot of it) and without having to comb/brush. Raking product in doesn't work for me.

Day 7 has arrived and I figured it would be nice to make a collage of what has happened over the past few days. It's rather big and I don't want to slow down everyone's browser, so just follow the link and you'll see. Click the magnifying glass in the lower corner, then click it again to go the original, where you need to click AGAIN. Sorry it's this big.

http://i1302.photobucket.com/albums/...f.jpg~original

My favourite hair day is day 4, which is surprising because it was washing day. Before discovering FSG, washing day used to be the worst of all days. I think my fringe looks great, my hair is voluminous, nice curls. I also like the first time FSG picture because I love the spirals it gave me. I'm not too happy with my cut yet because my hair doesn't behave like it usually did, so it is average all the time.

I might do another 7 Day Challenge, because it's very useful, especially if you're experimenting. I'm wondering if I should stick to washing once a week or whether I could go to washing twice. I'm also thinking my hair needs something to look slightly better, but I don't know what. Perhaps I need to tweak my FSG recipe, but I have to figure out what my hair lacks first.

For me, right after a cut- it takes a week or so for the curls to "get back in line", lol. Your hair looks great!

DAY 6

A good hair day! I made some basic FSG yesterday and tried it out yesterday afternoon.

It was clarify day so I poo'ed w/ Matrix biolage poo. Then used YTC as RO (rinsed out most if not all). I gently scrunched excess water out and I then scrunched and smoothed in the FSG. I plopped for about 10 minutes and diffused for 10. I clamped my canopy until dry and SOTC.

Pics from yesterday after SOTC:

And from today after pineappling and satin cap over night. I did not need to refresh, just shake, fix part, and go! Happy day. . 9/10

Question: what do you see when you click the link I just posted? Because it was working fine earlier, and now it seems to send me to Photobucket instead of the full-size picture.

And Chloe, I think my hair needs to recover from the haircut. Glad it doesn't look like a giant poofball anymore though
