Default Jessicurl HCC or stick with my COwashes?

I am having a hair dilemma here (aren't we all??) and who better to turn to than my curly haired experts!

I have been following the CG routine for about 2 and a half years and have only been using conditioner to "wash" my hair. I've been getting awesome results, but I'm getting concerned that maybe I should start using a sulfate-free poo once in awhile to really clean my scalp??

The thing is I have VERY dry hair and when I used Devachan's NoPoo, that dried my hair out too. One of the Devachan's stylists recommended that I DON'T use the NoPoo at all, just condish for awhile, that's how fried and stripped my hair tends to get.

My question is this: Is the Jessicurl Hair Cleansing Cream moisturizing enough or does it tend to dry out hair a bit, being a poo of sorts? I am terrified of any products that are referred to as "cleansers". I don't want stripped or straw hair again after taking so much time to get my hair back to health, but I am sooo tempted to try the HCC as it sounds so moisturizing.

Anyone with VERY dry hair (that does NOT do well with proteins-BTW) have good results with the Jessicurl?? Any info on this would be greatly appreciated!!TIA!

My hair is pretty dry and I use HCC (or Curlicious Curls Cleansing Cream, by Curls) around once or twice a month. I always follow with a DT and I've never had any problems

I don't find the HCC to be drying at all, but my hair isn't easily fried. Sometimes I'll mix it with an equal part of Too Shea! if I want gentler cleansing; maybe something like that would work for you?

Thanks for the helpful replies. I might try mixing a CO with the HCC. Also, is a DT necessary following a wash with HCC? Thanks! Sorry for all of te questions!

I can't use NoPoo but every 2nd cowash because it dries my hair out too. I put condish in & then NoPoo (like wavies do with lowpoo). Maybe that would help?

HCC is not drying at all so a DT isn't a must, but can't hurt. If your hair is that dry, it will only help to do a DT after using HCC.

I don't have very dry hair, but it can occasionally lean that way, and I like Jessicurl HCC. I think it has enough oils in it to not be drying. When I do wash with it I don't find my hair is any drier than it is on any other day. I like the idea of mixing it with some Too Shea! Will have to try that . . .

I do this too I put in my Too Shea! as soon as I get into the shower, and let it sit while I do everything else. Then the last thing I do is scrub my scalp with HCC (sometimes mixed with more TS), and rinse.

Oh, and I use HCC about every other day, and have never had it dry my hair out.

Thank you all! I think I'm gonna try the HCC with a little condish in the mix. I normally use the VO5 Moisture Milks line as my COwash. Do you think this'll be OK? Trying to save a little money here.

i think no poo is drying. when i run out i'm not buying it again. isn't it funny that before we used shampoo not understanding what it was doing to our hair....now we can't even tolerate no poo cause we know better?

i use v05...when i need more i think i'll just do the baking soda to clarify then condition...

How do you use the baking soda? I'm curious now. It sounds cleansing, but in a GOOD way. Do you mix it with water and then scrub your scalp? TIA!

I think most people who do it mix it with their conditioner... but I haven't tried it myself.

Just another vote for HCC-I use it sometimes every other day, have (had) very dry hair, but this is very moisturizing and detangling for me...always wanted to try the baking soda thing, too, but never have....may have to also experiment w/adding Too Shea to the wash, too... I know it can't be true, but I honestly feel my hair has grown a ton since exclusively using Jessicurl stuff (this is going on month 4)...

after being mostly CG for 2 years and growing my hair long, i find that suave or any cg friendly cheapie is just fine for cleansing or rinseout conditioning. i wet and cleanse daily bc i swim in chlorine and pre treat my hair with oils. i could go bankrupt using HCC or nopoo or one c for cleansing-i go thru a 23 oz suave naturals ($1.50 or thereabouts) in about a week or 2. i wash with the cheap stuff and leave in the good stuff, like too shea, one c or any of the better CO's. lately i have been experimenting w garnier fructis as leavein and it seems to be doing a good job, so i might switch over to that as a daily one to leavein and save the real good co's for special occasions...
