I'm close to giving up???

My hair is NOT cooperating at all. I have no idea why!

About 7 months ago I got a Brazillion Keratin relaxer. My hair isn't 3C, it's actually some sort of fuzzy frizzy mixture of 2A at the very bottom, under the roots, about 3B at the top bang area and 2A or 2B at the back. I'm not a half black half white child, both of my parents are Puerto Rican however my dad has african hair and my mom has 2A hair!

I have no idea what I am working with! I tried the curly girl method, and after about 3-6 months I just gave up. My hair looked GREAT after 1-2 months but after that it gave up. I changed nothing in my routine! It just turned into a frizzy, gross mess. I had BAD BAD BAD dandruff at the time and my hair after one day itched. I tried co-washing every day and nothing worked. I gave up on that.

Now I don't know what to do. My hair has a low porosity, high density, and fine width but boy do I have a lot of it! I've resulted to shampooing and condiitoning eVERY DAY. This is really bad but the next day my curls look flat dry and frizzy. Not a curl pattern in site! If I let it loose without wisking it in a ponytail it poofs. I have short hair btw, like shoulder short. So I'm stuck to lazy-looking ponytail styles till I can FIX this. I've tried so many methods and so many AFFORDABLE products, and I even gave Shea Moisture and Argan oil a try. Nothing works! I've tried spraying with leave-in and water mixture for second day curls, but the curls look dirty and matted.

My hair, like my mothers fine wavy hair, is easily weighed down by product but dries fast, is thick, but its fine hair. As a child my curly hair was pretty, but of course now I was stupid and did the Keratin and my hair is just gross.

I've seriously watched so many routines on youtube and tried so many and tried making my own but nothing is working!! Can someone help? I know everyone here swears by the CG method but I kid you not my hair hates it. HELP! I just want to shave it off really
Have you tried protein treatments? Maybe you are over conditioning? Some people seem to have luck using some intense protein treatments balanced with deep conditioning?
I don't know about protein treatments. I was told that for my hair type too much protein might weigh down the hair. I tried deep conditioning once a week and saw no difference.
Hair changing! Used to be mixture of 3A/3B, now a 2C.
Learning about wavy hair ^.^

Hair type: 2C, Fine (thin), Low Porosity, High Density

Co-Wash: TreSemme Naturals Conditioner
Gel: Olive Oil EcoStyler Gel
Spray: Not Your Mothers Beach Bbe Texturizing Sea Salt spray

I have fine/low porosity hair. It never met a protein it didn't like. I do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein. I also wet, use a rinse out and style every day.

If you had a Brazilian Keratin treatment 7 months ago, in all likelihood, you're dealing with damaged hair. Not sure that hair would be low porosity.

My hair prefers the more natural products from the online, boutique type sites. I stay away from chemicals, especially polyquats.

The chemical processing certainly may have damaged your curl pattern and you may need to be patient growing this out. Secondly you really need to get the scalp problem diagnosed by your family doctor and then work around that. Shampooing every day may be addressing the symptoms short term but you could well be worsening your skin and hair problems longer term by causing dehydration, inflammation and even thinning the skin barrier. At the very least switch to a super gentle sulphate free shampoo that ideally is an appropriate pH (4.5 to 5.5) or contains ingredients proven beneficial to the scalp such as Regenepure or Komaza Care Moja.

Do not use oils and butters rich in oleic acid, stearic acid or palmitic acid on or near your scalp until you have a confirmed diagnosis. That cuts out olive, avocado, sweet almond, argan, shea butter, palm fruit oil and others. Oleic acid is a known irritant to susceptible individuals, the others feed the malassezia yeast implicated in seborrhoeic dermatitis.

Finally review your diet and lifestyle, all of the common dermatological disorders that affect the scalp will benefit from an anti inflammatory nutrient dense diet, especially look at your intake of oily fish, sugar and white/ refined carbs.

Loads of curlies have a mixed curl pattern, mine are 2a in the underlayer and 2c all around the face. It's natural and more beautiful than fake curling iron curls IMO. Once you have grown out more of the relaxer damaged hair you can have a curly specialist haircut to make your looser and tighter curls work together.

Well I actually cut my hair a lot 7 months later, and Keratin just wears off, instead of staying on the hair till new growth emerges.

The section of hair that is turning straight actually is growing. when I first got my cut it was barely noticable, now it has grown to more of the layers.

Some find their hair recovers and reverts well with the Curly Girl method or other hydrating/ repairing regime, others find they have to grow the damage out. If you have a weak or loose curl pattern in that area three inches may not be enough to start curling, especially not if the older growth is still straight from the BKT.
