Is it because of the flat iron..

sexyNcurly, the best way to choose products is based on your properties. Do you happen to know them? Whether you're fine/medium/coarse, and porous or not? Once you know those you can look up silicone free products that might agree with your hair. You might also be able to find such products that can loosen your curl pattern. One way to loosen your curl pattern when you style is to apply products by raking them in and not scrunching them up.

Live Curly Live Free | the naturally curly hair experts

I just noticed live curly live free redesigned their website and I can't find the original page on hair texture, porosity and elasticity. . . Anyone know where it is? I'm too lazy to rummage.

Wow those are some gorgeous curls! The picture on the right you seem to have thinner ends than on the left, I wonder if you are experiencing mid shaft breaks? Curling or flat irons can cause irreparable damage in as little as one session, to me that is far more likely the main culprit than your products.
