I'm kind of glad I don't love it - only because I don't want to mess with making it. I'm starting a new job and am feeling a bit overwhelmed with all of that.. I have about 20 more new product samples to try. Thanks so much for your help!

I made a new batch but forgot altitude. I am in CO, so adding extra water helps. I also used grapeseed oil, which so did not work for me. Why can I use it straight but not in this recipe? Starting over with my avocado oil, extra agave, and orange essential oil this time. Lavender is getting old...

Hey Chloe, just checking in. How was it with the germall added? Any spoilage?

Still using cornstarch in mine, it just provides decent hold!

Hi! I haven't tried the Germall yet since I don't have a scale!

But, I just bought a new bag of okra today and plan to make more this weekend. I gave a huge bottle of "reserves" to my mom this past weekend. Plus, I need to tweak my recipe- I think I'm going to simplify it.

Back to the basics!!!!! I think I'm going to just do okra, grape seed oil, double agave, Epsom salt, and maybe wheat protein.

How are you liking yours?

I think you can order a cheap and accurate kitchen scale from amazon. I've been eyeing those...

Simple is probably better. And cheaper! I've kept my recipe pretty much the same since it worked so well. I did buy some Alba Strong Hold Gel for when I don't have time to whip up a batch, though.

I tried the gel again today - accidentally.. lol. It was in the shower and I grabbed it instead of another bottle. And I'm having my best hair day yet. lol. .. I guess I was "trying too hard" before.

I have a sample from Kathymack. I was previously using a low-poo and CK - both with polyquats. I didnt notice problems, but wanted to try some things without them. Today was Black Soap, Darcy's Pumpkin RO and LI, Okra gel, and LAL Gel . I guess I just liked this combo better than the others.

Kathymack is so helpful!
So you used okra gel as a curl definer and topped with another gel? Surprisingly, my okra gel works like a gel and dries crunchy.

Thats how I ended up using it - I thought I was grabbing CRN curl maker. I didnt think i had any other samples in the shower and since I'm half blind in there, I didn't notice the bottle was half empty.

I made a small batch of okra gel today and added 1 T of flax seeds as well- a combo! We shall see how it does in my hair! I added Epsom salt, sea kelp bioferment, grape seed oil, double agave, citric acid, potassium sorbate. Soaked the marshmallow root in water overnite before adding the frozen sliced okra.

Ooohhhh....my okra/FSG combo gel was soooo nice going on! I don't know if it was because I steeped the marshmallow root overnight or what, but the SLIP was INCREDIBLE! I'm currently in a plop, but will report back once it's "done"!

I think the slip is due to the marshmallow root. Let us know the results!

Tried out another batch if okra this morning. Same issue as before. Hair kinda blah and feeling sort if producty. I think this is the xantham. I have used the same additives in the FSG and liked it a lot. What are other options for a thickener? Easy to find? I live in a small town and have limited shopping options

Lol, I changed my recipe back to a basic one bc all the add ins weren't working for me! I think I used these add ins originally:

1/2 t grapeseed oil
1/2 t xanthan gum
1/4 t Epsom salt
1/4 t potassium sorbate
1/4 t citric acid
1/4 t honeyquat
1/2 t agave

What didnt you like about the basic version? It may have been the amount of agave....I usually add 1 t, but it's probably too much for most (I changed it back to 1/2 t on the recipe page).

I also increase my agave to 1t because I don't have honeyquat. I like the Epsom salt. Other than that, with the new recipe I have more frizz and smaller clumps. I am starting to believe I just have odd hair, I changes its mind on me constantly. Thank you so much for old recipe. I loved it!!!!

So I remembered that the recipes all had 1/2 teaspoons of everything, that I increased the agave to 1tsp and did not use the potassium sorbate (are you sure that was in the original, because I am very sure I have never bought that, nor honeyquats. I increased the Epsom to a heaping 1tsp and the oil (still in love with my avocado oil). ( hope that allmade sense!) It's pretty close!!

Thank you so much again. It's awesome to have happy hair again!
