deep treatment question

when you do a deep treatment are you suppose to wash the hair right afterward? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the deep treatment? Or do you just rinse it out?
Whenever I do a deep treatments my hair, I usually leave it in for about 20-30 minutes, then wash it out. You can leave it in for as long as you want though. I've heard of people leaving them in overnight and then washing it out in the morning.
If you're using penetrating ingredients like coconut oil, the benefit from the deep treatment is not only on the surface but in the hair shaft, so if you leave it on for 20+min and then wash it out the washing won't undo the deep treatment. You can cowash coconut oil out as well.
ok so you're not like washing all the god you just put into your hair cos it seeps in your hair. thats what I was wondering.
ok so the deep treatment will already be deep in the hair if I wash it out after, thats what i was wondering

I just rinse out my DT. I wouldn't shampoo it, seems like it would defeat the purpose.
That is what I was wondering, when you say "wash" do you mean with some sort of cleanser?

If I have to cleanse which is when I usually do my deep treatments I cleanse/shampoo with my sulfate free shampoo and then do my deep treatment. I usually use a dryer attachment cap as I find that it makes a big difference and I usually DT for about 30-40 mins. After that I rinse with water only.

I wouldn't recommend cleansing after you do a DT, the DT may be more beneficial after you cleanse.

yeah like most treatments say to wash your hair with shampoo afterward. me i would use my low poo maybe or just rinse it out reg and go to bed then do my hair the next day.
I have a feeling this depends on hair width as well. If you're coarse you may be able to just rinse it out, if you're fine you may be need a low-poo or cowash afterward.
fine - normal porosity*?- medium density - normal elasticity. Hard water. SoCal.
*Used to be low-porosity, but I lightened my hair 1-2 shades, so I may be normal-porosity now.

New climate! Current favorites:
