Hair strands thinning in the middle

I have med length 3a hair and I wear it in a tight bun most of the time. While in the shower, I started noticing the hair on the shower walls was thinner in the middle of the strand than at the root and tips, almost like they were stretched out in the middle. It was like that on all the strands I saw. Do you think my keeping it in a bun is the cause and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Could very well be your styling method, or could be that you were ill or not eating properly at some time in the past? Hair is dead so AFAIK the only solution is to use gentler styling methods and grow out the damage.

You might consider a hair analysis if you are not sure what is going on

What's your elasticity? I'm wondering if it's high and I'm wondering if you've pulled on your hair causing it to stretch out but not stretch back. Could be the bun. Could be something else. You'll probably just have to grow it out.
