How short are your shortest layers?

Just asking. Or taking an informal poll. Mine are by my ears. And I, for one, cannot wait for them to grow out. (I love the shape of my hair but these layers were designed to grow out anyways and I'm looking forward to it because my shortest layers make it impossible for me to plop my hair. I've always wanted to experiment with plopping. . . ) So I'm wondering if ear length layers are pretty common or my hairdresser just took them extra short because she thought it was best for me. It sucks though because since they're short they spring up because there's no weight dragging them down. It feels like they're taking forever to grow although I'm sure they aren't.

Most of my layers have grown out and nearly to the bottom of my hair, which is armpit length when straight. I don't like my hair all one length and need to decide whether I'm going to layer it again or just cut some face framing pieces.
I cut my own hair so I really don't know what they do in salons or what's 'normal' as far as layer length goes.
In Western PA
Found NC in 2004. CG since 2-05, going grey since 9-05. 3B with some 3A.
Hair texture-medium/fine, porosity-normal except for the ends which are porous, elasticity-normal.

I wanna say stretched just to about collarbone right now. They were shaped around my face starting around chin length when I had them put in.
My Hair:
2c
Fine, low porosity, med/high density
BSL - going for mid back to waist

HG: currently
just washing with a low poo that contains protein (Alba Naturals Coconut) and using Suave Naturals Coconut as both a RO and LI. No stylers right now, but this gives me pretty good curl, definition, low-ish frizz, and it feels and looks good. Also an occasional PT (liking the Palmer's Coconut Oil Formula which has cones) seems to be key for me.

awelcome, that's a great point! When I stretch out the layer it's just shy of my chin! Okay guys give me length stretched and unstretched. It's nice to know you guys have grown out your layers successfully. My hairdresser assured me this would be the case but I didn't think about shrinkage when she was cutting my hair.

stretched: under my ears, unstretched a bit above my ears.
These shortest layers are a bit too short for me, so I'm growing them out a bit (I think I want my shortest layers to be chinlength stretched
Dusa...... a horrible stylist decided to thin out my hair using thinning shears, and the shortest "layers" (not really layers, but kind of like shelves of hair that are within my hair and not on the outside like normal layers) are also just shy of my chin stretched out or around my ears when dry and curled.

They drive me crazy.
