Supercurls anyone?

So Jas had that ropecurl thread and it got me thinking. . . I think it was Neleke who posted that occasionally she gets supercurls, where one curl has made off with another (sometimes two others :occasion9::occasion9:) and they've swirled into this ginormous cyclone of curlage. I get them too when I wake up in the morning and usually just pick them apart carefully. But I was wondering how many more of us get supercurls. For visual reference, here's a picture of the supercurl that I snapped this morning in my third day hair. (Excuse my bra peaking through a little. I was sort of bending forward.) This is a big one, even for me. It's roughly the circumference of the end of a flashlight.

Sausage curls! Got them regularly when my hair was longer, not so much with the shorter do.

The same ones that I posted as changing direction do this on that side all the time. I separate it into 2-3 clumps usuallly. It happens a little in other places from time to time, but those ALWAYS do it.

Today I managed to finally have a somewhat decent 2nd day. And saw some of those rope/supercurls. Sometimes I even have them when I just co-wash. :)))

I get that when my hair is slightly longer and I love it.

Neleke 06-12-2013 03:38 AM

Yes, I posted that ;)
I have them with like 5-10 different curlclumps that form 1 supercurl...
Sometimes I just have 3-4 supercurls, and nothing else :p (one on the left side, one on the right side and two on the back side) ... so those are even super supercurls ...
While I would like supercurls composed of 2-3 clumps, supersupercurls aren't that nice :p
I will know in a couple of hours (doing my PT) if I get supercurls this time :p

Neleke 06-12-2013 03:45 AM

also ... for me (but I am bad sighted as well, so maybe that's the reason), my supercurls look less curly to me, since I can't see the "space" between them if you know what I mean...
Normally with curls you have these shadow effects because of the "space" you get... like with ringlets, you get different coloureffects because the light doesn't reflect the same way on each part of your hair (the part of your curl that is closer to your head gets less light then the part of your curl that is more "outside").... but with my supercurls, thos "gaps" closer to my head are filled with another curl, so for me it gives the impression of "less curly"

Does this make any sense at all? And does anyone understand what I mean and maybe agree? (I have the feeling I am explaining this quite badly :p)

I get them often!

I'm jealous!

I get some of these supercurls as well. Lately when I do ponytails (usually 2nd/3rd day hair) the whole ponytail forms one huge curl. :)

My whole head of hair does this. It's usually 2-3 curls joining into a thick spiral. It can get knotted easily, so I usually seperate them.

I get them too, actually that's what most of my curls are like. They all clump together and form huge clumpy ringlets. Sometimes I call my curly hair ''climbing hair'' or ''lonely hair'' because when I wear headphones for a couple of hours, some of curls will clump around the wire of the headphones... lol. It does that all by itself, as if it's alive. :)

Lauraimes 06-13-2013 04:04 AM

Aqua_Lily, I don't have as much spirals and ringlets as you do, but I have the same thing with headphones whenever I have a supercurl.

I never get super anything :hmph:

wavydaze 06-13-2013 08:42 AM

Yup, I get those also. They annoy me because I don't have a lot of hair so one supercurl = half my head of hair! I pick them apart sometimes, or they just get mad at each other and go their separate ways sometimes.

Samanthascurlz 06-13-2013 07:39 PM

Yes! I get these not as thick, and I love it! That is what is so great about curly hair. It does these things...sometimes I don't get it but I just go with it lol!

But you get super s'waves! :tongue3:

Wow, it's great to know I'm in such fine company And aqua_lily, you're right. The clumps are alive. In fact, they conspire to get clumpier all the damn time. Once one wound its way around the handle of my handbag. When I went to slide it off my arm it nearly scalped me. :confused2:
