Default SOS (cross post)

I mixed up some Kimmaytube leave-in for use on a trip overseas. I read somewhere that since there is mo preservative it, it needs refrigeration. My problem is i will be on an 8 hr trip with no refrigeration. Since i have 8 ounces it is too much for carryon. Does anyone know if it is ok to have non-refrigerated? Or how long before it absolutely needs refrigeration? Or does anyone know anything i can add to it so it will keep? Or does the preservative in the leave-in base hold for the whole product?

The preservative in the base is the right concentration and pH for that specific product, once you dilute or doctor it that may well become ineffective. Some preservatives only work well in water phases, some in mixed phases, many at a specific pH range.

Nobody can tell you how long it will last without refrigeration because there are too many variables: the specific recipe, how sterile your technique was, temperatures your product is exposed to. You can check the pH and add a proper preservative to it, which one depends on the specific blend you made up. The only other thing I can think of is to freeze your product and put in a cool bag the refrigerate as soon as you arrive, whether it's legal or safe to fly with that I have no idea. Bodge DIY really is not suitable for anything but short distance travel.
